MONTREAL – The Canadiens announced Thursday the participation of 25 players in the 2006 Rookie Camp to take place from September 8-12 at Ricoh Coliseum, in Toronto.
All prospects will arrive for physical testing on September 7 before taking part in an on-ice practice at the Sportplexe 4-Glaces in Pierrefonds (2:30 p.m.). Players will depart for Toronto later in the day.
The round-robin tournament will feature four clubs; the Canadiens, Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs and York University. Practices will be run by Canadiens Assistant Coach Kirk Muller and Hamilton Bulldogs Assistant Coach, Ron Wilson. Of the 25 camp invitees, 16 are Canadiens draft selections.
Please also note that the Canadiens’ annual golf tournament will be held on Tuesday, September 5, at the Club de golf Laval-sur-le-Lac. The Canadiens’ main training camp will take place from September 14 to October 3.
Guillaume Latendresse and Kyle Chipchura will once again be participating in the Canadiens' rookie camp, which gets underway Sept. 7.
I think training camp will be pretty intense this year which, as Martha Stewart says, is a good thing. You have rookies competing for maybe one or 2 spots max and you have a new coach with a clean slate. Get 'er done boys !
