Most Valuable Trade bait may not be so valuable anymore...

Some may jump on me for this. But personally i believe Markov is our best traid bait if we were to want to hit that market. I AM NOT SAYING I WANT TO TRADE HIM! But, thing is, we the floke of players from Russia who are leaving the NHL to go back and play at home ( Russia has the lowest taxes in the world...if i recall correctly ) Nhl teams are now scared abotu russian players and are actually scared to trade for or even draft them. With exception to superstars like Malkin and Ovechkin, there are few, if ANY russian players drafted in the first round. ( Im not posting the draft results, do believe me look it up yourself ) So, Thanks to this whole Russian born players leaving the Russian elite league to play in the NHL and the russians not being happy about it ( i dont blame them ) Markovs value has gone down. He is however rated as Russia's #1 defensman. Hope he likes montreal! Cuz i dont plan on losing him!

While Markov may be our most valuable asset, the fact that he is not on the market makes him useless trade bait.

If the worm isn't on the hook, he is not yet bait.

I think Ryder is trade bait though!

Neither of them do i want to see go though. Both were brought up through the habs and its nice to KEEP some of OUR talent for once....

While it is nice to have talent grown from within, sometimes you can get better through acquisition....

If we could trade either of these players this year and win a Stanley cup this year as a result of that trade, but have nothing to show for it a few years down the road while either Markov or Ryder is putting up MVP numbers for someone else, would you do it? Would you say it was a bad trade?

WITH comments like this, no wonder the habs had no one in their farm system and if we did, traded them away for a short term solution. why is it that whan the habs get a few young players that show promise, the thought is to trade them away for a short term solution? KEEP THEM IN MONTREAL AND LET THEM GROW INTO SUPERSTARS!( IN ONE OF THE GREATEST JERSEYS A PLAYER CAN DON)!

Personally, due to the way i look at hockey, i would say that would be a TERRIBLE trade. I HIGHLY believe in winning a cup from within and working for it and STAYING a good team. I HATE seeing teams who are good for 1 year, win the cup and then fall off the face of the earth for another century ( with exception to Toronto, i love the fact that they did exactly that....)  If those players you trade away turn into superstars and are MVP material, imaging KEEPING them and having both or the one guy on YOUR team. Guys like Yzerman, Bourque, Sakic, Stevens, even Koivu. People who are drafted for that team and turn into pretty good players. ( diference is Saku is yet to win a cup ) I just hope that the habs keep moving in the direction they are headed, things look bright for le bleu blanc et rouge
