listened to him on Team 990(may have been a repeat ) ,the guy's a class act , he's glad he had at least eight games in the Big Show , doesn't hold anything against Montreal and spoke glowingly of Jacques Demers ........now as a westerner I saw Terry Ryan play when he was with Moose Jaw Warriors and never understood why the Habs took him ....he played with a lot grit ...but anyone with one good eye could see that he didn't have the wheels to make it in the NHL ..........a nice guy with a lot of heart , no wheels , that's all there is too it

These days, Terry Ryan runs some sort of hockey camp for disadvantaged kids on Bell Isle, a tiny island near St. John's, NL.
A class act indeed............

My best friend from university roomed with one of Terry Ryan's friends from the Rock. He spoke highly of him. Since then, I always felt bad thinking negatively of him and even more so after I saw the report a few years ago that he runs that hockey camp (whoch has helped a lot of disadvantaged children.)
Too many of the good guy class act type of players don't ever make it to the big show. PLayers like Terry Ryamn and Steve Yzerman are VERY few and far between. Instead, todays game is full of players whose loyalty is to the almighty dollar and nothing else. Don't get me wrong...I don't blame a guy for signing a huge contract but there is no team loyalty anymore. I know if I was blessed with the talent to play at the NHL level I would sign for league minimum to wear the Habs jersey. It's just a matter of pride and team history. I wish more players were like that as it would make for a better league.

Had the pleasure of meeting Terry Ryan when he was a rookie in Fredericton. A more down to earthy guy I have never met before. To give you an idea of how much he is respected, he asked CJ to go to Nfld to help coach at his hockey camp for the disadvantaged this summer. Claude was in the midst of buying a home in Jersey but still flew up to the rock to help out. Ryan is a nice guy and I am happy to see him giving back.
