Jeremy Colliton was drafted in 2003, in the 2nd round, 58th overall. His position is center and he shoots right. He's a strong skater who plays well along the board and in physical area, smart around the net, very though on the puck. Has good two way player potential and great leadership.
Radek Martinek was drafted in 1999 , in the 8th round, he's a defenceman. He's 6'1" and 210lbs. He has good speed, good first pass and movement.
Sean Bergenheim was drafted in 2002, in the first round, 22nd overall. He's a 6' , 186 lbs center with good puck handling skills. He's also fast and quite a strong skater.
Bergenheim and Colliton are ranked 6th and 7th respectivelly in the Islanders prospect list.
And-o has been waiting for this one all afternoon!
Losing Komi (back to his family) sure would hurt...but the Islanders would be forced to hand over one of their top six d-men and some pretty decent prospects as well (including a right-handed centre with some grit).
PLUS...they would assume Bonk's salary, which would free-up the money for Dumont AND possibly another UFA d-man!
...And-o is undecided...although Komi might want to go home...and the kid went through hell last season when his Mama was ill!!! Cut the kid some slack if this is truly the case!!!
When you need to dump a salery like Bonks, you have to throw in something to make the trade attractive enough for the other side. Still though, I would try and make this thing happen. Martinek probably has more skill than Komi but not as physical. I think though that his speed will be a better asset than Komi's size and grit in this so called new NHL.
im hoping it doesnt happen. Koim wa sREALLY starting to look good last year, and id HATE to see him leave and turn into a guy we end up needing later on. We are DEEP in prospects right now, i dont think adding more for the future is going to help our team any. We've been doing that for years now
