Concern does not Neccessarily Equal Negativity
Permalink Closed

Much has been said here lately that alot of the posts have been too negative. I will agree that is the case in some instances. However, sometimes people come across as being totally negative because they are not quite sure how to express themselves. The problem with a forum like this, where everything is done in writing, is that sometimes opinions or thoughts are misinterpreted.

Having said that, fans have EVERY right to be concerned about the state of the team right now! We are all fans and we love this team. But let's face it, we do have cause to be concerned here folks. Koivu has not even been able to resume training. Like him, hate him, or indifferent, he is a HUGE part of this team right now. Yes, it is quite possible that Koivu's career may be over. It was a very, very serious eye injury. Even if he does come back, one solid hit could end it. That is not overeacting, that is not melodrama..it is pure FACT. Since Bob was unable to attract another center that leaves us with Ribs, Plekanecs, and Begin (and Johnson who plays wing mostly). This is cause for concern.n

Add to the fact that Bouillon is out for awhile. We are horribly bare on defence already. The other 6 guys will need to step it up and then hope that Franky's knee holds up after surgery. We added Samsonov and Johnson. Let's face it, Samsonov was added because we failed to land a center. He was not at the top of the list. Samsonov is hot and cold (disappeared in the playoffs) and is essentially more of what we already have..small and skilled forward. After failing to land Arnott and then Shanahan, Samsonov was signed by default. Johnson is a role player who could be useful and we did not give up alot to get him. But neither player filled our pressing need of a stud dman or center. Now with Saks and the Cube hurting, people are expressing concern. ANd rightly so.

As I said before, people's points of views are different and tend to balance each other out. I do not criticize the posters on here who I think are overly optomistic. I appreciate their views and it helps me feel less pessimistic. But we need to stop with the "Go cheer for another team" rhetoric every time someone expresses concern or a view you are not in agreement with. If I do not like a post or feel that someone is sounding like a broken record I have this radical thing called a mouse and pointer that allows me to skip his post and move onto the next one.

I guess what I am saying is that, just like the real world, there will always be people we agree with, disagree with, or really do not care for. Let's just try to appreciate all the qualities that everyone brings to the table here. Read posts, keep what you want out of them, discard what you do not care for, and appreciate the fact that we all have one thing in common. We are habs fans. GO HABS GO!!!

all good points again barry , but 1 thing on the sammy signing . i heard him with pj stock talking on the radio and he said montreal was in contact with him july 1st. i believe he was in the plans from the start along with a center but that part fell through unless you count johnson as a center which some people do .

I am happy we landed Sammy over Shanahan.  Sammy can make offense happen, where as Shanny is just the pot guy.  As for a big center,  I haven't lost hope yet.  And the stud defenseman is a big concern, but I think Markov has 30 minute potential.  If and when he shows up.
