he had a press conference in montreal today and confirmed the doctors told him to expect 12 weeks of rehab. he also stated he had had the pain for 4-5 years but always delt with it and played . but lo and behold after he gets a fat 3 year deal he needs surgury . i dont like the smell of this.

Well Gainey knew he had a wonky knee and went ahead and gave him a long term deal..so it is a 2 way street. Not like the Cube hid anything from him.

Its not that much guys, he'll probably miss maybe a couple of weeks at the most of the regular season, but at least he'll be healthy....geesh, i thought he was one of our better D man, and he apparently was living with the pain for a few years...imagine how he might play with no pain...
i realize that gainey knew barry and realize he will miss about 10-15 games but the fact he had the pain for 4-5 years and only after he secures a longterm contract does he decide to get it looked after . why not after the playoffs , or during the lockout . why now all of a sudden . if he gets the surgery after the playoffs , hes back intime for camp but why wait so long to get it done is what im saying .
