Story in Lapresse suggesting Koivu NOT READY to go in October. Very disappointing to hear the stories in the last few weeks ... Bouillon hurt and Koivu not healed.

Mark my words ... if the Habs start the season without Koivu they will not make the playoffs.

Moreover, I wonder why Bob Gainey was not more on top of Koivu's and Bouillon's condition through the spring and summer. If there was no improvement, why wouldn't he have done more to land a #1 centre?  If a manager in my company ran his department on this basis, he'd get fired for sure.

here is the jist of it mc , the eye injury prevented him from training on the ice,

the eye injury prevented the canadiens captain from training and he and boilion could miss the start of the season.at the golf tournament , koivu stated the injury prevented him from returning to the ice . remember that koivu had surgery to the eye after being struck in the eye with justin williams stick .

thats what i got from the literal google translation here

the injury to the eye of Koivu prevents it from resume the training on freezes. (Photo PERCENT) Saturday August 05 2006 - (RDS) - The captain of the Canadian, Saku Koivu, is not not yet return to training. Following the example of Francis Broth, Koivu could spoil the beginning of the season.

This is this that retrieves the Newspaper Presses It in his Saturday edition.

At the time of a golf tournament in Finland, Koivu asserted that his injury to the left eye prevented it always to return on the ice.

Recall that Koivu underwent last May a surgical intervention to repair the rétine of his left eye after to have received a stick blow of Justin Williams, Hurricanes of the Caroline.

Koivu is still not able to practice, and Bouillon says he (Koivu) might not be ready to start the season, according to La Presse newspaper.  Koivu, interviewed at a golf tournament in Finland, confirmed he was not yet able to practice on ice.  Koivu underwent surgery in May to repair the retina of his left eye, after being hit by Justin Williams.

Well, I hope Saku and Francis Broth are both on the freezes when the NHL season starts!

So now what???? What if he's out for the season???? Do we have options???? Are we left without a forward???? ....it's not like that's our weakest area right? If he's not playing, he doesn't get paid right???? Then would we pick up another forward????

(I'm not 100% clear on what happens from here.... I'm worried now )

If Koivu misses the begining / middle/ end or entire season, I will lay the blame for any habs underperformance on Bob Gainey.  Bob's responsible for icing 20 players, and if he decided to simply hope that Koivu would fully recover, well I say that the habs management should be based on more than simply hoping things turn our okay.

maybe we will see other players pick up the slack and surprise us all, it takes more than 1 person to win, there is no " I" in team!
