maybe one black spot is the puck and the other is the other team's net!

I think the 2 black spots is paint from Williams stick

The time for talk (and action) surrounding any/all alleged 'blurry vision' was back in Spring!!!
...as it stands now then, each and every Hab fan should EXPECT Saku back in the line-up at THE VERY START of training camp!
It will, no doubt, bother some that And-o is going to provide no room for these same-old excuses of hard-luck and bad-times which leads to the inevitable 'triumphant return'...but this guy has led EVERYONE to believe that he is the #1 guy...and he had loads of time to back-out!!!
BOTTOMLINE - see you in September Saku!!! Be ready to go!!! You had ALLLLL Spring to contemplate retirement!
and-o i dont know where you get all this hate for him but its undeserved . in the spring he was still bothered by the eye, and he recieved clearence from dr. mulder to fly home to finland , that didnt mean everything was roses , he still had some blurred vision .and-o do us all a favor and the next time you see a post about koivu , skip it , unlike you we would like to think our captain will be back .
this is a trasnlation from the interview from another board.
This interview was taken today by Koivu that Marksman from HF was good enough to translate;
Koivu believes he will be playing next autumn.
Joyful expressions and much talk, when some of the players from Turin Olympic and Latvian World Championships teams met to spend a few days together before leaving around the world to join their club teams. Most of the talk was about the future, but Turin games was visited once again.
Team captain Saku Koivu told finals disappointment has been won.
- Feelings after the tournament were great. Of course we needed some time after it, to get better, but everyone understood what we had reached. Now that I have seen some of my team-mates and chatting with them, everyone has been feeling very positive.
The end of the Koivu's NHL season was anything but positive. During the playoffs his left eye was hit by Justin William's stick and he suffered a torn retina.
- Right now the eye is reasonably good. It does not affect normal life. Final condition will be discovered, when we have examinations in Montreal in September. And how it will affect on ice too. The vision has not yet competely recovered, and thats why everything is slightly uncertain. Next month and a half will be telling more.
For Montreal and National Teams captain who beat cancer five years ago this has been the second time he has had to think seriously what is going to happen to his professional hockey career.
- Especially the early part of the summer was tough, I was just recovering from the surgery. The eye was really sensitive to sunlight. Life was quite painful then.
- Now I've learned to live with it. I believe, that playing will resume on my part next fall. I believe my eye return almost as it was. Even if the vision would not return to every spot I do not believe it will stop me from playing, Koivu thought.
- And if games dont resume I've seen plenty of life in hockey circles. Maybe that option could be lived with.
Eye injury has caused the greatest change in preparation to season.
- I've been able to become active only past two-three weeks and started to focus on coming season. It will certainly take at least a month until one can think, what the next season will be like. We've been only doing some basic drills so far.
- Over the last years there have been some misfortunes and they have made me stop and thinking about future and life in general. Of course I've become older, and playing years are getting fewer. That is why one must be able to look into future, Koivu ponders.
- I have not yet found passion for new profession. Have to think about it more, he laughs.
- Misfortunes add into my hunger for playing. Every time, returning among the healty, one values routine training and games. Enthusiasm will be plentiful in autumn. I have so much experience already, that even if I was slightly less than full shape, I can cope, Koivu promises.
This last bit Marksman added afterwards when a live interview came on TV;
PS. As I was making this translation, they just aired this story in television (YLE is Finnish state owned channel). Saku among with Ville Nieminen, Ville Peltonen, Teemu Selänne, Kimmo Timonen, Jere Lehtinen and several other familiar faces, first sitting in some hotel lobby and the playing golf, where they interviewed Saku right on the green.
You could not tell he had that injury at all - you guys are worried for nothing, I'm personally 100% certain he will be back, maybe better than ever.

Give it up, And-o. You just come across sounding like a heartless bastard. You're a bigger man that that, surely............

I have concerns about Saks. An eye injury as you all know is alot like a knee injury. One hit and that could be it. I would ratehr have him 100% ready to play without risking losing his vision.

Ah c'mon!!! If you really believe that...then he might best NEVER play again!
This is all water well under the bridge folks!
Do you think that Hab management would have let this problem go unchecked this long???...especially when the likes of Arnott (etc) could have been signed for roughly the same amount of money as Saku (just try saying that out-loud without laughing)!?!?!?!? If so...And-o suggests that it is time to rethink the GM's role (and this simply is not the case)!!!
And-o asks...would the Habs let Saku Koivu go enjoy a summer of golfing unless they were 100% certain that his eye injury was short-term...healing/healed...and quite a finished matter??? Would you chance your $4.75 million (which is roughly 11% of your salary cap).
Saku Koivu has had 4 months (have any of you EVER had four months off???) to heal and/or decide what his future holds!!!
NOW is NOT the time to begin floating doubts and start having second thoughts!!!
Almost time to perform Saku!!! Cold hearted??? Maybe! Fair and reasonable??? YOU BET!
I guess you've never had a serious injury and-o, when your vision is at stake you need to take the right precautions and make sure you are 100% healed before you make the decision to come back. It's an injury that takes time to heal, you can't just say after 3 weeks, looks good, let's go. That's why you aren't a doctor...
Ando...do you think its normal to have two Black spots in your sight? First off, an injury like that is a major injury and can sometimes lead to Blindness of that eye. Second, its NOT, i say NOT common that after surgery to eye because of the injury he suffered, to have black spots appear in your vision. This is not a case of "oh he had surgery, so he is good to go..." not at all. Surgeries are most of the time "successeful", But there are surgeries that sometimes can't be considered "unsuccesseful". This one might be that case. It has been 2-3 months after his injury and if he is still having spots in his sight, than he might need a "revisional procedure" which is a follow up procedure to determine what else they can do. Third, you are absolutely an ignorant, and cold hearted person who just wants to be noticed. I like your analysis most times and your "grit", but when you cross the line, you like to jump over that line.
...what's with all the B.S. , either his eye injury is healed or it isn't .....why would anyone expect more or less ............we're talking about his friggin eye here people ..sheeeeesh !!!
"have you ever had 4 months off"...How about a 35 yo who has a stroke? how about a 35 yo who herniated 2 lumbar discs? How about a 34 Yo who got a stick square in the eye drawing dark blood?
Clearly had an injury free life eh And-o? That does not suprise me...pretty hard to get hurt watching Capt. Pickard fight the Borg....
lol muller seriously and-o im 24 and i have 2 squashed disks and a mini-ernia which caused me to miss 5 months of working...also when i was younger i got a finger in the eye while playing basket-ball..and till this day i still see a black spot...maybe i should of gotten it cheked...but my vision as decreased since..i can garantee that...the freaking guy had cancer...obviesly you never had someone in your family or close to you that had it...and for him to (most of the time) give is 100%...is quite umbeleivable..the way you are talking seems like you still speculate if he did indeed have cancer or faked it to have a longer vacation....as someone said before me you should skip the Saku Koivu threads..and spend that negative energy towards a go leafs forum

Well, to bring some substance to this discussion I just wanted to tell those that may be worried about Saku's eye that the injury seems to get better. However, he will have a check up when he comes to Montreal in autumn and then the status of the recovery will be clearer. To be seen is how the eye reacts when Saku starts to compete in the rink.... No talk anymore about black spots at least. This information was from an interview with Saku.
This last comment by Saku has me worried because usually the Finnish NHL players have been on the ice for quite some time now training with each other. Now it seems Saku hasn't been able to do that so I'm wondering in what physical shape he is in if he can play when the season starts.
And yes, Hello to everybody here. Been reading for a while your posts on this forum but thought I should post when I had something to contribute to the discussion. Another contribution I can make is that I had a similar eye injury although not as sever. (a ball hit me in the eye). It took me just about four months before I was allowed to play again... And before that I was only allowed to do some light training
