I don't think he is the future of the Habs, I think it would be guys like Chipchura, Maxim Lapierre, Andrew Archer, and Kostitsyn.

I don't know if he is a Habs future star or not but he sure did make an impression as one of the best players during last years pre-season. From the sounds of things though he might be the next coming of Benoit Brunet.......all kinds of talent but attracts injuries like flies to roadkill......

Why does it have to be Kostitsyn who is the future and not Latendresse.  I think both will have an impact.  Kostitsyn this year, Lats down the road.  Carey Price is another big piece of that future puzzle.

Sure the injuries are concerning, but hopefully he'll take the time off he needs as two concussions in 6 months is a big deal.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him skip training camp this year and some of the early junior season.

I would take Lats over Kostsytsyn for this reason only. He fits the mold of a Power Forward, something we are terribly lacking right now. Lets face it, who do we have now that can consistently power towards the net with authority and work in the corners with the puck? Begin and Murray do not count as 4th liners.

Kovalev can control the puck in the corners, and go to the net and bang and crash with the best of them when the game is a big one.

But he doesn't do it on a night in night out basis, as many times he coasts on his talent and doesn't bring his grittier side.

I do agree another more true Power Forward would be a great addition.  Lets also not forget Chipchurra who can play a gritty game.

I think he'll be better this year in camp than last year. He's been in the gym workin off the fat( hopefully feeding it to Ribs so he'll gain weight). After the camp he had last year, it'll force him to work harder to show it wasn't a fluke. Plus I cant wait to see what kind of player Kostitsyn's younger brother is gunna turn into. He's suppost to be more skilled and more aggresive and showed it in a couple of junior games I saw on sportsnet during the memorial cup tourny.

Yup Johab, we have both of them and although the older is said to be more skilled, the younger came over at a younger age and is adapting better. Latendresse should definitely be a keeper and Chipchura, although an excellent prospect, is not an offensive player... he will be another Carboneau*, me'thinks.

*Not that there is anything wrong with that... (Sorry Nil, seemed to fit) :)
