hello and-o , i turned on the puter and up came tsn webpage and i see we got a whole lot better , we got rid of a malcontent (zed)picked up a better bulis (johnson) and signed sammy to play with kovy . do you think johnson could slide in between them or is he more suited for a 3rd line role .

Well Mac...And-o is generally fairly happy right now, although Zeddy is a good player in his own right!

...but, no question, the Habs are a better team now than 24 hours ago!

And-o sure hopes that Bob has one more BIGGIE for us!

P.S.  Johnson will likely skate the wing...but he is very capable of taking face-offs...and chipping in!  Sure he is soft physically...but the 'new' NHL is all about speed...and the Habs are wayyyyy faster tonight!

Sorry to rain on your parade And-O

Looking at the Salary cap numbers in the other thread we cannot afford to add too much salary now.  I mean this pushes us near 43 million.

If we trade someone away maybe that other big move is coming.  Hopefully Ribs or Bonk (if anyone will take those salaries)

Man I had lost all hope of anything happening for Montreal... but now when all is said and done we totally have a better team on our hands.

I wouldn't think that Bob would be making any more deals but there needs to be some room left for Ryder still so I think even though they just signed him Abby, he is still a viable piece of trade bait... even once the season has began.

sorry beaker according to tsn we are at 35.8 with 22 players , no sammy numbers in there and we have to sign ryder but we're 8 mil under so we'll be around 42 .

you have to assume sammy at around 3.5 at least, Ryder 2mill at least, and Perez at around 700k, so thats an addition of 6.2 to TSNs 35.8 bring us to  43million.

In addition in the past Gainey has said he wants some room for mid-season/trade deadline moves.

Doubt we will go right up hard against the 44 million mark.

Mike's parents actually live (or lived) in Montreal. His Father has a photo store in one of the Government buildings that takes passport pics. I went there about 4 or 5 years ago... nice guy! Nice to have 2 more guys who WANT to be here.

This the same Johnson that played for TO? Didn't he get traded for Tucker? So really, full circle, eh? Anyway, he scored 50+ pts last year for the Dogtown Crappers so maybe he'll be able to bring that with him. About the same pts as Zed? I honestly like And-o enthusiasm and think he's infecting us all. There seem to be a number of pairs of Habgils (or Mrs Habs) rose-clolured glasses hitting the board lately. Nice change. Now we just have to wait for, what, 10 weeks to see if things turn up roses.

Come on Figs, look at stats before you say something like that,  Johnson had 54 points & he was a +7, Zednik had 30 & was a -2.  BTW, Zednik's career high is 50 points.

Hockeydb.com has all the stats.  Zednik is around .50 PPG career wise,; Johnson is .75 PPG.  He's 150% the player Zednik is.

Yes and the impressive part of that stat is that he played in Phoenix. I think he is capable of that plus a wee bit more with the players we have on our team....

I will put money down that Zednik has a carrer year playing with Ovechkin. Johnson is a qualitiy player but he did play with good players, Phoenix does have Shane Doan, and I beleive Johnson was still there with Roenick.

I don't mean to put a downer on this, in the end It is a better trade off for the habs, Samasonov and Johnson vs Bulis and Zednik. I wish Zednik well , he put alot of smiles on Habs fans faces with his carrer with the Habs. Off the top of my head his 8 points in 4 games before he got knocked out by Mclaren and he is game 7 1-0 winner over the Bruins in 2004 coming back from 3-1.

It was a off year for him last year but look for him to rebound with Alex the GR8.

Sad to see Zednik go, I always liked him and the way he played. I wish him the best.

Don't forget we just got 2 right handed players, and one of them at LW...exactly what we needed.
