Something needs to be done about the media

I've been surfing other message boards that relate to hab-info, and something that keeps on coming up is how the media is screwing up Montreal's reputation. With the evidence such as the way they have treated koivu in terms of the language issue, and the photographer that basically violated saku's privacy, or the stalkers outside Theodore 's home. This crap is getting old. Its sending a message to other players that montreal is out of control. Next season there are some promising UFA, and if we, THE FANS, don't show our support, and "protection" for our players, we might not get much in terms of UFAs. I agree that I do want players that can take the pressure of montreal. HOwever I do not expect a player who has a family to take care of signing here, because he'll have a reporter sneak around the house and so on.
People need to take a stand and tell the media to f*ck off!

If the fans don't do something about the media, who will?

Couldn't agree more Jay.

With all the BS the Montreal media has put our Non-French speakin' players through.... It's ridiculous & a wonder that we even have some of the players that we do!!!! (kudos to them BTW .....i.e. Koivu, Kovy etc.....) They have made it so bad that unless there are available "french" players to pick up (& that doesn't even mean they are good players).... we get left in the dust.  Even if we happened to pick up someone great.....the media finds their way to torture them, then they are unhappy & play that way and/or are driven out.

You know.... if they just shut there damn trap & reported only the NEWS in Montreal & not print their personal issues with language etc re: the Habs players, they might have more things to write about more sooner than later. Big named players might begin to sign in Montreal again.... which would help us win, which gives us a shot @ the Cup finals..... NOW THERE'S NEWS STORIES TO WRITE ABOUT DON'T YA THINK????

They are ruining the reputation of the winningest (is that even a word?? lol) team in NHL history. If they keep it up.... I'd hate to see where we are as a team in 5-10 years. Gainey may be great.... but even a great man can fail when the @$$holes in the media bait & hate on every player there.

Look at the Leafs..... THEY SUCK!!!!! but the media & city treats their players like gold. Who wouldn't want to play for a team like the Leafs over the Habs anymore? (God, Did I just say that?) I can remember a time when players wanted more than anything to play in Montreal.... Are the "Good ol' days" gone for good? I fear they might just be.

TO THE MEDIA ~ WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT ANY OF THIS CRAP YOU REPORT ON????? ALL YOU ARE DOING IS SOLIDIFYING OUR DEMISE. SHUT YOUR HOLES & LET THE GOOD TIME ROLL!!!!! OR KISS YOUR TEAM & FANS GOODBYE.

The media is here to stay..and the people of Montreal and the province in general. hang on every word they say. Part of that has to do with the passion that they feel for their team. It becomes almost soap opera like, the players becoming the lead actors. As for Toronto media treating their players like "gold" that is an exageration. Although not as brutal as Montreal media, Toronto has certainly been known to be a pretty brutal place to be if you are a hockey player. Just ask Matts Sundin who, like Koivu, has given his heart and soul to that city, only to be constantly grilled, BBQ'd, and sauteed.

Toronto isn't even in our league for media harassment. Sure you might hear a bad thing or two every now & then but I assure you... even when their players do everything wrong in the game, the Toronto media & news stations treat them as if they just brought out their best game ever. (I watch their news daily) According to the TO news stations, Toronto has no divers, no slackers, no egomaniacal idiots, no nothing.... yet a blind man can see that they are riddled with these guys.

However, I DO hear constantly about how every poor move/play made by a Montrealer is a "season ending" move/play.... even as early as November. I believe it's the media that sets off the fans in Montreal & not the other way around. They talk trash about our team/players in the news, which pisses off the fans & then in turn, they treat our players like crap. i.e. booing at games... (you don't see that in TO) The media fuels the frenzy.... & the domino effect takes place. Take out the Media negativity & watch what happens to the fans spirits.

Negative brings negative.... positive brings positive. Even the most joyful person can be transformed into an angry mess of a person if all they are ever exposed to is negativity & anger. Just ask any divorced couple.... LOL

KEEP THE NEGATIVITY OUT OF THE NEWS & THE FANS WOULD BE HAPPIER! Plain & simple. Passionate fans take it as a shot @ them when their team gets slandered. I'm not saying don't dis the team ever..... but don't make every move they make or language they speak an issue.
