Offer made to Gagne?
Permalink Closed

I just read this post on hockeytraderumours.com (grammatical and spelling mistakes are his not not mine):

"Source : Mix 99.7 FM Radio Station

The Montreal submit a 5 years / 25 Millions dollars offer to Simon Gagne.

The Habs will have to give in compensation to the Philadelphia Flyers : Two First Round draft choice, One Second Round Draft Choice and One Third Round Draft Choice.

Over 5 millions per years, it cost 4 FIRST Rounders...

Take it easy on this one...

My Two Cents : Gainey got nothing to lose with that... The Habs draft so bad... But if it's the case, the war will start in the NHL... ouf... touching RFA...
But Luongo was offer 8M from an other team so... everything could happen. "

Does anyone have any details on the authenticity of this?

What do you guys think? Is Gagne the real deal or does he need a big strong center to  make a $5 million impact? Something I think we all know the habs are lacking... Interesting though... can't see a francophone denying the possibility to play in Montreal much like other FAs have been rumoured to have problems with.

Heck, why not. Not sure it's real or fake, but sounds fair. Earlier in the week I heard it was $7.00. Anyway, anything to bring excitment and improve the team.

Hey, the guy scored 47 goals last year!  We have a centreman who can set him up (two, actually).  And yes, the language issue is no issue for him.  And he's what, about 22/23?

I'd second a $25 million/5 year offer.  I hope it's true, and I hope he takes it.

OK, he's 26, and apparently he is a centreman himself.  I still say Sign him up!

The rumour is bullspit. Gainey isn't the type to do that, especially to Clarke who is one of his best friends.

Nope, I am not Gainey or his barber, but from everything I have read and considering that kind of move is almost unheard of, I don't see it happening. Just a strong opinion, that is all.

I agree it is probably unlikely, I wasn't trying to attack you I was just curious if you had read it somewhere
