It seems all this talk of it being hard to bring in free agents is true, does it seem that we are now to forever be an 8th place team?  Gainey is a good GM who has the ability to bring in talent, but with the exception of Kovalev, he has not signed one decent player.  It is such a shame to see the winningest franchise in NHL history being reduced to a "joke".  I know it is only day 2 of the off season, but almost all the good players are gone now. We know we didn't have what it took last year.  Looks right now that we will have to sign guys like Ribs and Zednik.  Sad to see us go from being feared to being in the basement.
