With the devils signing big, they might need to move a few players. I seriously would like to have a shot at Gionta. I can hear some of you now 'Another small forward, no thanks!' Well, its not all about size anymore, its about speed and scoring capabilties, which Gionta has, he's a restricted free agent, and I would like to see him playing on the 2nd line of the Habs. We could trade a few players for him.

To NJ: Alexander Perezhogin, Mark Streit, 2nd Round draft choice
To MTL: Brian Gionta, 5th round draft choice

PS: 600th post

And for those of you who don't like the Gionta idea, what about Scott Gomez?

I don't get it.  How do so many of you hate Streit?  He is probably our best offensive defenseman.  The points will come with NHL experience.  He moves better than any other defenseman, has a good shot, and sees the ice well.  Give him some time, look at how great he was for the Swiss team at the olympics.

That's very true. When I watched him during the Olympics I couldn't believe that this was a Montreal player. He looked completely different than he does in Montreal. Normally he's not that good, but if we can get the Mark Streit of the Olympics, then I'd love to keep him for many years.

Streit is used to the bigger ice surface, although that isn't an excuse

I really think he lacks confidence right now, he can be a good #5 soon.

Best offensive defenseman?!?!  Did Gainey trade away Souray, Rivet, Markov and Bouillon when I wasn't watching?

ROFL - he may have to, though, to get a # 2 centre haha.  Seriously, I'm a Streit man (not that there is anything wrong with that.)  Considering last season was his first in da En Ach Ell, he served better than Breezebye may have.

Actually Nils as sad as this is..I said it many times..Streit is the only puck moving/carrying dman we have other than Markov.
