Brendan Shanahan on Gainey's radar?
Permalink Closed

I am scouring the web and rumour mill has Montreal pursuing UFA, Detroit's Brendan Shanahan.

If you ask me, it's probably a ploy by his agent to drive up his asking price.

I still don't believe Montreal can land a top notch free-agent.  And it's not because GM Gainey isn't trying.

Mario is wise!

And-o thinks that Shanny REALLY wants to play in T.O. but his agent has wisely advised him to divert the attention (since those who state a desire to play in T.O. rarely are given the opportunity).

...and, of course, what better way to 'fish' for a potential deal in T.O. than to show serious 'interest' in being a Hab!!!??!?!?!?!??!

NO THANKS!. Too old.

The only way I think that is a good move is if Gainey retains Ribeiro. That way Shanny can pimp smack that fruitcake around and maybe get that gangsta' back in line with some proven leadership.

Ando thanks for the compliment.  All I can say about Shanny is ... Brett Hull. Remember when he duped us?  And for what?  So that Detroit would ante more.   And they did!

Here's a name i am really keen on my radar.   Bill Guerin.

I'll be speaking to someone in the know on Monday to learn more.

I was actually thinking about Billy. Would be nice to have, he had an off-season last year, but will rebound nicely.

I think Guerin would be a nice addition to the team. Sign him to a year with a 1 year team option and bonuses then if he has another bad year we can dump his salary without losing much. Personally I think he has the size, grit and scoring touch this team needs.

Do you think he will come here?  I think I would rather have J.R.  I love his flamboyant personality.  I think that is what our team needs, a guy to throw water bottles at the refs LOL.

Hmmm....line of Kovalev-Roenick-Shananhan(or Guerin)  Could be very scary.
