I'm am thrilled that we have not been rushed into signing anyone like the Leafs. All you guys are obsesing over guys who are gone and already giving up on this offseason on the FIRST day of free agency. lets wait untill septemer before we start pointing fingers at a failed offseason. Unlike the Leafs, the media and the stir crazy fans waiting for action cannot pressure Gainey to make a move that may not be the right move at all.

I agree but it's a worry if there's nothing left but scraps in Sept.

I do think he'll add a player or two but it'll be in his own conservative way.

I'm hoping two of these three....Elias, Shanahan and Arnott.

Hopefully then concentrate his efforts on a trade for a top two d-man.

Superhab, I agree, it'll take time. It's a long off season.

I'll critique him in the Fall but he needs to get it done in this off season. If he keeps this roster, we don't make the playoffs with what others added in our division.

With Elias now officially gone, Arnott and Shanahan are still very possible solutions. And we have so much cap room! I wouldn't be concerned with overpaying for them. I trust Bob will make the right moves, but we have so much space to work with that I think he can fork out the dough for a few top notch players.

Yep, in a way i'm happy we didn't pick up Elias (although he would have done well on a 1st line in MTL, I'm sure of that.) it means we can probably spend a bit more money on players who will show up every game (hopefully!!).

With our abundance of youth and cap space we can fleece a couple of teams who need to dump salary to stay under the cap. I am not too worried. But please get Arnott!
