Travis Green!

The Bruins just cast-off Travis Green...and And-o thinks that this guy MIGHT make a great and cheap addition to the 4th line (or depth)!

BEFORE YOU SCOFF...please read-on and ask yourself...what if Travis had been a Hab in the pressbox when Saku went down???

PROS - He is a big and fairly nimble centreman/winger who is very proficient in the faceoff circle.  He sticks up for his mates.  He is VERY durable!!!!  He kills penalties well and blocks shots like crazy!  He really seems to always bring some spark and energy to the line-up when his team needs it.  Also, he just doesn't seem out of place when asked to fill-in on a scoring line.  Played for $650K last season!!!

CONS - Maybe aging a tad at 35.  He spits more than any athlete And-o has EVER seen play.  Who wants a team-mate with the nickname 'Greener'???  Seriously though...sometimes inconsistent in terms of offense.

...what do you guys think!!!

And-o thinks this guy is potentially a GREAT depth player!  He is what would result if you crossed Steve Begin with Yanic Perrault!!!  And...at $750K for one year...WHY THE HECK NOT!!!

We already have so many fourth line players, Begin, Murray, Downey, Ferland, Lapierre

...and not a damn one of them could elevate their game and/or contribute when Saku Koivu went down!

Don't you think another veteran like Travis in the pressbox would have made a significant difference in winning that 3rd game (thereby forcing a game 7)???

And-o isn't looking to replace young talent with a "has been"...just adding to the mix!

The problem is that while Green may be able to elevate his game what are we going to do with the other fourth line players that are in and out of the lineup?

Maybe if we didn't sign Downey. Too many not so goods and not enough goods...

No to travis green unless we can trade away some of the 'low-line' players to make a spot for him.

...here is hoping that Gainey shows us!

Clearly, Gainey needs to target some upper level guys...and perhaps a few mid-range ones as well...although And-o thinks a few depth 'projects' can pay big dividends!

Any one of us would have given at least a mid round draft choice for a Travis Green when the Canes had the Habs by the stones though!!!
