I've heard of this, however it wasn't 3 picks, it was:

Abiescher, Zednik, Bonk, 2nd round 2007 pick.

I dunno if I would do this, I do think St.louis just had a bad year and that he can play like he did 3 years ago. His size isn't really a concern to me, because when he plays good, he plays like a big guy....the problem....his money......

I would make this deal without blinking!

Bonk 2.394 mil/ Aebischer 2.0mil / Zednik 1.976 mil ....adds up to 6.37mil.

St. Louis makes 6.0 mil per.

St. Louis will more than make up the goals that Zed and Bonk got last season. Also he'll add the dimension this roster really needs...SKILL. It's also a chance to dump Bonk and his over-inflated contract.

I agree, I really like St.Louis, but we'd only be saving a couple thousand bucks, and getting rid of 3 players, we do need to make up the spots left...or bring up some young-guns...

I think Martin St. Louis is over-rated. He had a great 04 season but other than that he's average less than a point per game. At 31 years of age, and at five million a season for the next four years, i would rather have someone else for that money. Gagne, Tanguay, Marleau, etc. I have no problem giving away radek bonk but I think you could get a better return for Abby and Zednik. In the cap era you need as much flexablity as possible and St. Louis contract is not worth the risk.

...while we are at it, why not just hand over the keys to the Bell Centre!?!?!?!

(And-o thought we were trying to unload the smurfs...at least the ones without a no-trade clause!)

I would certainly prefer if they used players, but this is a cash dump by Tampa and we should get St. Louis on the cheap because of it. He will only be 35 when his contract is up, so just leaving his prime. The no-trade clause is scary though...
The great thing about St. Louis though is that even when he is not scoring, which is rare, he plays a complete game and is a very dangerous penalty killer. His speed and work ethic opens up room for other guys and he is a Cup-winner and that says a lot. He is a goal-scoring, right-wing version of Koivu. For some of you that is a great thing, for others...

Bang on And-o, Part of the habs problem is they are too small. Why not load off size and bring in another smurf. Personally, main reason why St Louis did so well, LOOK AT HIS BLODDY LINEMATES!!! Lecavalier and Richards!! You could stick Odjick in there and he'd have a 30 goal season for god sakes!! Bring in some size and scoring. Not what we already have.
