There was a common theme is this year's draft right handed D-man. What happened to picking the best avalible player Bob? I love that the year before we pick a goalie which we didn't need and even with the loss of Theodore we still don't need. yet this year we pick Offensive minded D-men even though there weren't the best choices. And most of the Defensmen are right handed shots, which justs happens to be are an area of need. And only one non North American.

I thought we picked quite well! 3 of our 4 first picks were rated in the 1st round by a few scouting services. I don't really know the French player, but I am sure our scouts know him very well. The last two picks are shots in the dark, although Jay seems to know something about the Ruskie. And between Huet, Price, Danis, and Halak our Goaltending is set for the next 15 years. I too would have preferred someone with more immediate impact than Price, but I can't deny that we should be stellar in nets for a loooong time - and it is the most important position. Our weakness in our system was scoring D and gritty players and now that problem is fixed. The only other prospect I could see us missing is a top center, but that is a lot harder to attain.
That french guy is my favourite pick, not because he's french but he had 69 points points in 67 games, with 18 goals. Plus he's also supposed to be a physical players.
I would have liked to See Patrick Berglund taking with the 20th, or Chris Stewert if we kept the 15th pick.
Yeah, I really like Chris Stewart and was bummed that we didn't land Anthony Stewart either. Both are supposed to be big Habs fans too. Berglund sounds like he will be a good pick-up, but I am intrigued with the unknown upside to Fischer... from what I have read, Montreal scouted him hard and had some really good talks with him.
Pretty decent size across the board too. These guys are still kids, and most assuredly still have some growing to do. Not that size is as important in our new NHL, but size coupled with speed, skill, and a bit of junk-yard dog is just what this team needs. Hell, it's what every team needs. I really do have an incredible grasp of the obvious this AM. I am so proud.
