Dropped down 4 spots and got a second rounder from St. Louis for their first. Nice.

Hmmm....not as many deals today as I thought there would be but I guess Brian Burke said it best. Alot of teams are going to wait until July 1st to see what they can get without giving anyone up so I guess I will shift my attention to July 1st and the days after for any bigger deals to be made.

I notice Calgary picked up Alex Tanguay for Jordan Leopold and some picks.  I wish the Habs had gotten Tanguay.  We loved him here in Hallifax (in Junior).

Did Habs drop down in the first round or second??

Ty Wishart, D-man. Almost everyone between 10 and 40 seem to be around the same level. I have read a lot of scouting and they all rate them at quite different levels, so I guess that Habs figured that the guy they wanted would still be around as he was rated in the mid 20's.

For once I have to say that I agree with all the hockey minds in saying that once you got beyond the top 5 picks it was a case of anything goes. I really didn't see any stars in the rough beyond the #5 pick but I was a bit surprised when the Habs passed on Bobby Sanguinetti. I will say the thought of drafting a kid right out of high school does intrigue me and they must have scouted him hard to take a chance like that.

As for Tanguay I think Calgary got the better end of that deal and I agree that he would have looked nice in a Habs uniform....

Hmmm...methinks that the moniker "Blockbuster Bob" shall never be applied to Bob Gainey
