I didn't know how I'd feel until the game was over if my AB Oilers lost but I actually don't feel that terrible.
I'm happy for guys like Wesley, Brindamour, Wieght and Hedican. Guys that have been around a long time. Happy for the Canes in general because of great Management in putting together a team with great young players and also adding some veteran players at a key time to take a run at it. Also, a top notch team in the standings all season.
Pronger was a horse for Oilers just as Brindamour was for the Canes in these playoffs and especially in game seven. The guy played half the game, I think?
Anyways, I hope we can acquire a big minute solid player like Pronger on our back end and a solid guy up front that can handle the workload all season long.
If Gainey is doing his homework, he'll reallize that speed and skill are very important now in this new league. Sabres are another example also.
Exactly why would you not feel good for deserving veterans, winners. Players who did not just start playing great hockey in the playoffs but had also a franchise record in wins and points during the season. A team which has the likes of Staal (potential 50 goal scorer, had 45), Cole, C. Ward, Stillman, Weight, Whitney, Recchi, Cullen, Kaberle, Williams, Brind'Amour, Vasicek, Ladd, Hedican. STACKED team, a great team that deserved to win and I hope you all know that they will go far again next year.
I'm really happy for them. It was a great 7th game and Carolina is the better team, face it don't bitch about it.

Get over yourself.....
Yeah they might have played some good hockey at times & might have some talent on their side.... but if you can't admit they are a filthy dirty team that played a filthy dirty game for much of the playoffs & won because of it.... Whatever! Playoffs are over, bring on the REAL hockey talks, not this Canes rock & are the best team crap. Remember, your so called "better team" got their arses handed to them on a silver platter in game 6. They allowed Edmonton to come back from 3-1 in the series to force a game seven.... I'd hardly call them the better team & if they are the better team, it's just barely & easily debatable. It's also easy to win when the officiating is almost always on your side.
Edmonton didn't bring their fury in the first 2 periods in game 7, they waited to get passionate till the 3rd... it's the Oilers fault they lost... not the Canes.
Enough of the Crappy Cane Crusades... bring on our Hopeful Habs discussions.
Habs and Avs fan you should really change your name cuz nothing you have said since the habs got knocked out of the playoffs has been positive about the canadiens. You seem like one of those bandwagon boys who just cheer and talk up whoever is winning.

I was gonna say that!!!! LOL
I thought I remembered reading that he sort of wanted Edmonton to win now.... I'll have to go searching later to verify that though.... lol

Hey H&A you made a little typo, its spelled whiners. How could you feel good? A bunch of hacks, the Canes played sleezy hockey. Possibly the worst cup champions I have ever seen. It is killing our sport. Tampa, and now Cryolina. What a joke Bettman has made our sport. Hockey should be in the north, where it was made, and perfected. Go CANADA.
I think it is actually good for the NHL that Carolina, as much as I can't stand them, won. A developing market has won a championships and if it solidifies the fan base nd grows the game, then it is good for Hockey. There a few players on that team that I like, and I am happy for them, but I would be happier if they had won the Cup with honour.

I agree, I think I am much more upset because it was not won with honor. I was not that upset when Tampa won, and I have to say I was happy for Andreychuck (sp).

I agree about how it's really good for Carolina's market. That is what I have been saying all along. It's really nice to see a growing market win a championship. Tampa had record attendances this year, so I can assume the Hurricanes will have a similar result.
And we all know I'm happy that Carolina win because I just liked them better. Nothing against the Oilers, because they're one of my favorite teams too. It was a hard fought series and both teams deserved to win. Unfortunately, one had to lose, and it was Edmonton. But anyone upset that Edmonton lost should think about the positives; that Edmonton has become a competitive team and if they play the way they did in the playoffs, they'll go far again next year.
Also, can we lay off the personal attacks? I know I hate having my posts torn apart and attacked, so I can imagine no one else would like it either. If you don't agree with something someone said, respond in an intelligent manner. I hate reading these insulting posts...
But seriously Carolina is not a devolping market, they like many other NHL markets are all bandwagon hoppers. Next year if Carolina is not competitive you can bet that noone will show up to their games. And another fact if you went to Carolina you could buy a ticket for 70 dollars from a scalper and im not talking about standing room I'm talking about 170 dollar seats. As for Tampa and their "record" attendence. I don't know if i would pleased with their record sales. They were still pitful, the arena in Tampa hires scalpers to sell tickets UNDER value. The Immediate results look good but i guarentee that Carolina will not sell out their first 10 games of the season. Maybe if they do well they will continue. Look at New Jersey they have been cup contenders for a long time yet still don't sell out.
Furthermore i would've perfered Edmonton to win but Caronlina played a very good 7th game. I was happy for some of the guys on the Canes win like Commodore, Weight, Wesley, Brindamour (Even with his whinning)
Yeah I saw that.... At first I thought... WOW now that's a team that has support, they'll go all the way to Carolina to cheer them on. Then I realized, if it was the Habs in the finals down in Carolina.... we'd probably all be there.
I'm sure Oiler fan had much to do with the "selling out" but I'm glad there weren't any empty seats. It was a shame to see "front row" seats empty during the playoffs let alone through out the rest of the arena. I think they should have grabbed people off the streets & let them in for free... every seat should be full.
