how great it is that fans can rally behind their Canadian team and root for them in the finals. In the states i doubt they care once their city is eliminated. In canada...its huge right until the final buzzer of the finals. But its even bigger when a canadian team is involved. What i thought though is, what would happen if Toronto was Canada's last team. I HIGHLY doubt the country would jump behind them...no less ANY REAL hab fans. But then i woke up from my day dream with a smile on my face...Toronto in the stanely cup finals...theres a laugh!...maybe it was the Crown Royal talking...
GO EDMONTON!!!!

funny, i was saying that exact same thing when i voted for my friend for Prom King... a few people were around when i wrote his name down ( we had to vote 1 guy and 1 girl ) i put down my friend and someone asked why him...my answer was simple...his ego needs it...not to put him down..hes a great guy and one of my best friends...but he is a little full of himself. He was happy i one it....he said to me later that night that the only other person besides himself he would want to have it would be me and hes glad i got it. A pretty good compliment if you know the guy..haha...

Your scenario reminds me a bit of the MLB "World Series" a few year back between the Yankees and the Mets. The media called it a "Subway Series". I called it "Having a Colonoscopy By Stevie Wonder Using Old Garden Hose and No KY-Jelly".
I'd rather spend a long weekend squeezed into a twin bed between Rosanne Barr and "Johnny Cakes" Vito Spadafori than have to watch another NY/NY series, or ANY NHL series with Toronto and /or the Boston Bruins.
Go Buffalo (anything to prevent Justin Williams from ever smiling again, the little bucket of warm vomit).

Well the Americans can care less, say if their team goes down, they don't care if another American city wins. 3 reasons : -there's 24 American teams and 6 Canadian teams -American teams always win the cup -They don't love hockey like we do!

Americans might not have the percentage of the population who love hockey, but there's enough fans down here to fill all the arenas in Canada several times over. In pure numbers, not that many less than up north. Even poor ratings in American markets are similar to what a good match in Canada sees as far as revenues are concerned. Just a matter of the sheer population difference.
Oh, and don't mention the part about not caring to a Rangers or Flyers fan, they might want to introduce you to the closest urinal cake they can find
Interesting that you posted this thread, yesterday, while playing poker with friends and my brother. My brother said that Buffalo was technically our home team, it being the the nearest city still in the playoffs. To which I replied "Any Canadian team minus toronto is every Canadian person's home team.' Which I believe is very true, as Canadians we generally rally around the Canadian team still in the playoffs, however if it was toronto, I feel alot of people outside of the toronto area would cheer for any other team possible. Simply due to the Laffs arrogant nature.
Way to go Buffalo! Still hoping for Edmonton over Buffalo in the final. One more win and the 'Canes will be out. Good riddance I say.
Great to see Buffalo win last night - in OT, no less. That's gotta hurt if you're a 'Canes fan.
I might actually watch Game 7. I think it was Brooky who said at the start that this series could go to a Game 7 OT conclusion. He might well be right!

gotta cheer for Buffalo after they got hosed by Hull's puck in the crease the last time they were in the final. I hope for a Buffalo Edmonton final. I'm torn in my cheering for Edmonton after that disgusting showing by their fans on Whyte avenue after they made it to the final. If Carolina makes it to the final, I'll definitely cheer for Edmonton. If Buffalo makes it, I'll cheer for them.

Wow that's true, they're looking for some sweet redemption I guess. I hope to see it too. Edmonton vs Buffalo. My opinion heart/grit/veterans vs speed/talent/kids

Sure it was a blown call, but tough to say they got hosed too. It was only game 6 not 7. They still would have had to score in OT to extend the series, and even if they did manage to win that game, would have had to go on the road for Game 7 in Dallas. It was still an uphill climb for the Sabres even if the ref made the right call on that one.
True it was only game 6, But one bad call or play can swing a series. Don't want to bring up Saku's eye injury play again, but it sure took the life out of The Habs..
