Sid the Kid's Body Double.....
Permalink Closed

In Friday's May26 Toronto Sun......

The next time you watch that Sidney Crosby Gatorade commerical where everyone
is throwing hockey sticks in a pile - take a good look at Sid the Kid's body.

In parts of the commerical, it belongs to Toronto Argos receiver Michael Palmer who does part time work as an actor and model and is Crosby's body-double in the commerical.

Palmer is not a dead ringer for Crosby but his ties to the athletic world and his similiar stature - 5'10", 187 lbs. It was not the look or facial features but the similar
body type, same weight that got him the gig Palmer said. Palmer also said Sidney was cool, man, down to earth, just relaxed like this team (Argos). He's just another dude, you know what I mean? Palmer & Crosby were on the set for two days.

I  am learning to hate all the hype over sidney  because the media  put this young fellow up on a pole and all you hear is sidney, sidney, sidney..... same as when wayne and mario came in the picture, the media made them into gods at the time and thats why i didn't like to watch them! now i like to watch this kid, but i wish the media would tone the hype down and treat everyone equally!

I know what you mean he is good but everytime he makes a halfdecent move the broadcastor will say something like, "That was an incredible play by Crosby! He's very smart not many players have the knowlege to dump the puck in on a two on one like that. Thats why this kid will be great!"

Since the post Lemieux and Gretsky era, the NHL has been looking for a North American player the can use to promote the sport...it's not hard to realize that they chose Crosby...

They didn't choose him, he chose himself, by being so supremely talented, not to mention handsome and articulate.  I think he's not a bad choice.  Remember the previous "choices"?  Lindros, Daigle............. Sid is not a bad guy to have as the fresh face of North American hockey these days.

Bang on Nil d, If crosby continues the way he is, i think it is definately possible he could be mentioned along with Gretzky and Lemieux. BUT Personally, i think i like Ovechkin more as a person, and player than Crosby. Not bashing Crosby or anything, but i find Ovechkin much more intense and into the game, and much more dicaplined!...and hes a funny guy to boot!
