nobody was challenging his accomplishments , what is evident however is that the guy is a major friggin jerk ....how else do describe someone who smacks around his woman and finds it necessary to denigrate teenagers in the name of sport to meet his own ends and ego

Jerk is the right word.  And a massive ego to go with it.

But man, what a playoff performer!

I'm not sure if he stuffed those rings in his ears, as he claimed....

'Forum Fan' is right!  Pat Roy is clearly a jerk...but he is THE BEST goalie EVER!

...it really cheeses And-o off that so many forget just how many of Patrick's wins in Montreal were almost solely because of Patrick PERIOD (how's that for gratitude!!!?)

Maybe one of the best, but if you're having a delicious, chocolatey sundae, and the last bite turns out to have a big fat, sour pickled onion hidden in it, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth...

Some people (not this one) might argue that Barry Bonds is the best player ever.  I think the guy is a 12 ounce bag of d**k cheese.  Always have.  Always will.  He could join the Red Sox and lead them to 3 straight titles and I'd clap my hands for him only if he had a grand mal seizure in right field.  If Roy was/is as much of a hairy moose c**k as he is making himself out to be, then he can go screw.  Good goalie?  Sure.  Good guy?  Hmmmmmm...maybe not.

I don't know about *ic* or *oc* , but have you seen Bond's gut? More like 1200 lbs not ounces....

Double that if you add the weight of his head.

He should enjoy a wonderful welcome at Shea sometime later this week.  I expect the talent of folks like Brooks to let this guy know what the non-SF fans think of him.

Personally, i have no memory of Roy as a hab. First goalie i remember in net is Andy Moog. You older guys will have a better view of when exactly that was...but i was in grade 3  ANYWAY.... Thing is, i only remember Roy as the stuck up egotistical AMAZING goalie he was for Colorado. Yeah, hes the best goalie of all time, but Gretzky is the best Player of all time and at least he still has class and doesnt put himself above everyone. Im glad he represents Canada...Roy can stick his stanely cup rings in his mouth so we dont need to listen to him for all i care.

Jablonski the one who would NEVER get up from the butterfly and let in all kinds of goals in the top part. He would be litterally on the floor the whole game. You guys remember that ??

Oldest goalie I remember watching was Roy and Hayward. I wasn't around for Penny.

God..... I remember Gump Worsley like it was yesterday.

Also Charlie Hodge, Rogatien Vachon, Bunny Larocque, Wayne Thomas, Ken Dryden (as a rookie!)...............

I used to have a Phil and Tony Esposito hockey game, "Action Hockey" I think it was called.

Had magnets that you moved the players around with

But then again, my "John Diefenbaker with Kung Fu Grip" doll probably dates me more...

Vachon is the first one I remember, though I think Worslet was still with the team at the time...not too sure about that...

Patrick Roy USED to be my hero but now is a ZERO. He showed up at the Mem Cup wanting to be the center of attention instead of having the focus on the players and their accomplishments. It all started after Quebec lost to Moncton in the league finals and he refused to shake hands after. Class act Patty boy. He is typical of an athlete who forgets that if not for the FANS he would not be where he is now. The Roy picture I had on my wall is now at the city landfill.
