How idiotic is Gretzky and Company looking for NOT taking Syd the kid to the Olympics last year?!?? Granted, I do not think he would have made enough difference to put the team over the top, but his performance in the World Championships now is nothing short of sensational. He is dominating each and every time he is out there. Now maybe the naysayers will claim that Crosby is doing well because the best players are not there, unlike the Olympics. I say BS. The kid is 18 and is leading the tournament in scoring. How he could have been left off the Olympic roster baffles me. Wider ice surface, more free flowing play, and better linemates make Syd a no brainer.

Um where was Shanahan, Kariya, Staal, Tanguay..... Why put in Draper when he had 2 goals on the year......Also notables Savard, Brind'Amour, Spezza, Arnott, Joe Nieuwendyk, maybe even Jeff Carter, Cheechoo (was not discovered), Boyle....
This is kind of old but I think we all could have put together a stronger team for Canada, ugh Gretzsky, never liked him since he did not make the best goalie at the time Patrick Roy the starter for team Canada, you cannot disrespect Roy like that.

I have to agree with you. Gretzky has his favourite players and that let him affect his judgement big time. He must have learned it from his previous boss Sather. This idiot, as I recall, never chose Denis Savard for Team Canada in all those Canada Cups.
But Sather and Gretzky are not the most moronic and short sighted when selecting for Tema Canada. Bobby Clark is the most grey-matter challenged. Take a look at his team for the Nagano Olympics. Take a look at his team in Philly now. He'll pay for forsberg but then get second rate goal tenders to compensate for Forsberg's production.
