Bulis to test free agent market
Permalink Closed

RDS reports that Bulis will be testing the free agent market this offseason. He's making close to one million right now.

Good defensivly and 20 goals.  He'll be popular (probably out West).  I'd like to keep him if he fits in.  But you just know Montreal is bringing in a few new players.

Bullis basically states that he is 28 yrs. of age , and he is going to take advantage of his free agency without compensation on the free agency market. The article goes on to state that he has been in mangement's bad books and spent a few games near season's end in the press gallery watching. No mention in this article about being a top 3.

Sorry but he won't be missed.  He has great speed, I'll give him that and his 20 goals were a fluke.  This guy is scared of his own shadow and has hands of stone.  He definitely led this team in neutral ice giveaways and continuously coughed up the puck.  If some other team wants him on their top 2 lines they can have him.  He is strictly a 3rd or 4th liner on the team we should ice next year.  Bye bye Yan.

Thing with Bulis is, on a team like Bufallo...he would be awsome. Speed and defensive skills.

A team has to be in tune with his style. I predict Yan is a 25-30 goal man on a different team( by different that does not imply not Montreal...perhaps the habs will be "different" next year)

I really don't care for Bulis, but on an offensively starved team like the Habs, his 20 goals did impress me.  I didn't find his defensive skills to be all the impressive, and I don't think it can be disputed that he coughs the puck up more than any 2 or 3 players on our team combined.  I do believe he will do well in another city, but I also thought that about Savage.  Wow, I can't believe I am admitting I have been wrong before.  Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye.

It's no surprise he's leaving after the fall out with Gainey. The surprise is that Gainey doesn't see speed as an asset. He'll pick up guys like Downey, Simpson and Ivanans than not resign a player that can play with speed. We have enough grinders and grit on this team that a Bulis would still add an important dimension.....SPEED.

I agree with Muller on this one. On another team like the Sabres that win with speed and skill, Bulis would fit in great.

I just have a feeling that Gainey is more hung up on grit than talent. For myself, I would have more talent(like Canes, Oilers and Sabres) than grit like Calgary. Important to have both but in this new NHL, the majority of roster should be skilled and fast. A talented team will win out over a team full of grinders.

What is happening here? I agree with you AB. Speed. Look at the remaining teams...

He's very replaceable.  Good player but replaceable.

Food for thought:  He'd have 16 goals if it weren't for one big game in Philly.  16 goals for a guy who is suppose to be a top 6 forward is not very impressive.

Our first-line guy had 23... :)

get rid of Zednik first, shows no emotion,  I've followed Bulis since his junior years and yes he makes some mistakes where you want to throw the converter at the TV but he brings more to the team.  Can we afford for Zednik to have another bad year.  Bulis is one of my fav'Habs and would love to have him on the 3rd line next year.  Not too many teams have a third line player with his talent.

Don't you all just hate when you lose a player to free agency. You get nada in return...We could of had something in return for Bulis especially in a multiple player deal. I guess it's too late now.

I think Bulis will be a loss. I've always liked him. He has enthusiasm, speed, and plays two-way. I guarantee many teams will want him.

Oh well. There isn't room for everyone. Guys like Higgins and Plekanec have made serious claims for a place. And you know we are going to get a free agent or two ourselves.
