Higlhites and Lowlites Post

Ok..now we have had time to reflect..I want us all to pick ONE Season Highlite and One Season Lowlite. This can be something very small, something you noticed. Perhaps it was a particular post etc... Here are mine:

Highlite- well this season I would have to say it would be the stretch run where we won 8 in a row including beating the Laffs twice, to put us in a position to make the playoffs. It was during this strecth that I saw the potential and maturing of kids like Komisarek and Plekanecs and Higgins, the future of the franchise.

Lowlite- obvious and personal for me, CJ getting fired. Upon reflection I see it was the right move, but when you have a good friend lose his job anywhere you hurt from him. Unless you know the guy, it is hard to fathom the amount of time and preparation he put into coaching the Canadiens. 20 hour days were not uncommon for him. I feel consolation in the amount of calls he has had inquiring about his services and the NHL head coaches who contacted him after and told him he would not be out of work long. See you in Freddy Beach in July Claudey.

Good choices.  They would be my high and low as well.   No surprise that I would agree with you, Barry.

(Another candidate for "low" would be the couple of losses rigght at the end when the playoffs were tantalizingly close but not quite in the bag.  But that was a temporary situation.)

I watched every game and have many of both. I loved the hit that Kovalev put on that weasel Darcy Tucker, that seemed to really boost the team .
Besides every loss, My lowlight was when Koivu got the eye injury and It was feared his career might be through.that seemed to suck the life out of the team.. See you at the parade in 07...

Highlight of the year was when the Habs went 13-3 to start the year and the team was flying. It showed what this team could do if it had the confidence and desire to do it.

Lowlight was when Theo became useless, this is when I realized that one of the main players the Habs had been counting on was no longer there for the team and things weren't as rosie as they could have been.

I am with Barry and Nil. Losing Koivu comes pretty close, but unlike CJ, he will be back.

Saku's eye is a given, but the lowlight for me was seeing Theo collapse and get shipped off with his tail between his legs..

Highlight would be the day we realized that it didn't matter because Huet saved the day (now sign him so I don't have another orphan jersey)...

Oh. and imagining Barry in a pair of Speedos

i have to agree with gfeaver , when i saw kovy go after tucker i was very impressed , it wasnt til a few minutes later that i realized it was all planned , there was noone who was going to take that puck from him til he got even with tucker , then to see him scrum it up afterwords was priceless. as for the lowlite , it was for sure the saks injury , for some reason i knew in my heart we would not win. for the first few games of the series i had chills while watching the games , but after the incedent nadda , it was like something inside told me there was no hope , now they gave it there all but fell short . well thats my story , whats yours .

Highlights- Being at both games in Montreal when the Habs tore the Laffs a new a- hole, Kovy hitting Tucker and the Leafs not making the playoffs.  Also the great people who make this board up, we may not always agree on the same things but there is one thing we can all agree on is that our Love for the Habs is what we all have in common.  Have a great summer everyone.

Lowlights- Theo, Losing to the Canes (really thought we had a chance) Drafting a goalie, but maybe Gainey knew something about Theo we didn't.  Any Habs lose and missing the Habs reunion. Next year.

Mario, when the tickets go on sale could you please post it and when the Go Habs reunion will happen.  Thanks for this great board!

Shoot Barry, I'm sorry you just wanted one of each, go ahead of myself.

Highlight for me was securing a playoff spot after a very dismal December and January.  I think we all knew that our guys weren't likely to go deep, but that in itself was a HUGE turnaround from mid-season when we were tanking big-time.

Lowlight, hmm.  I was going to say the slump I mentioned above, but I have to agree with my buddy Brooky.  Everyone who's been posting here for any length of time will remember my defending Theo (and claiming to be the real love of his life, but I digress).  My lowlight was watching him spiral and finally get shipped out.  The game that best illustrates this spiral was one I saw live in Vancouver (it was 2-0 before they even finished singing the National Anthem).  I saw the pained look on his face when he was finally pulled at 5-0 and it was heartbreaking.  I lost my voice from yelling at BG to yank him earlier to avoid further humiliation.  The Canucks fans sitting in front of me actually stopped cheering and bought me a beer 'cause they felt sorry for me....

High - catching 3 Habs games (in Calgary, Edmonton and in Montreal vs Rangers).

Low - catching 3 Habs games and struggling to watch them lose all three.

High ~ Going to all the games in Buffalo front row, particularly Feb. 9th when Kovy won it in OT.                       Oh, & becoming a member of GoHabs...

Low ~ The season ending too soon. No worries though, we'll come back from the off season on a mission..... to get that 25th cup!

To the posters that won't be around till October.... Have a safe & relaxing summer, be well.

Hi-lite...are you kidding And-o???  Try the two crushers in a row over T.O.!!!

Low-lite...YOU ALL SEEM TO FORGET!!!...the O.T. loss to Toronto where Markov got suspended!  This resulted in losing Hainsey to waivers...and it marks the start of the awful slide that ultimately cost CJ his position...and the Habs nearly lost a playoff spot!!!

Only one?  OMG I have about 500 highlites.  I think I only missed about 5 games total all season, not bad for a guy who works shift work, and is often there until 8 or 9 pm on day shift.

Hightlights-  Ryder giving me hope for #25 with all the goals at the start of the year.  Chris Higgins, I am begining to love this player, total package, going to be deadly in a few years.  Mike Komisarek throwing hits when he was on his game, future poor mans Pronger in my eyes.  The Kovalev goal agaisnt Jersey.  Being in Buffalo with my Kovalev jersey on when he total dominated the Sabres.  The 8 million extraordinary saves Huet made, there are just to many beauties to name.  Theo being traded for a bag of pucks.  The heart of Steve Begin all season long.  But for me the biggest highlite came in a losing effort.  Realizing that Koviu is a lot more than just the points he puts on the board, this season I realized that Koviu is a true captian, and am finally proud to call him my teams Captain.

Lowlites- Losing to the Canes, god I hate them almost as much as the Leafs.  Plus I wasn't really ready to stop watching our boys play.

And for next years highlites, I can't believe I am going to phone in sick for an entire week to be there for the Habs in the cup finals, and partying so hard with all of you and the rest of the greatest fans in the world when we hoist Lord Stanley's Cup for the 25th time.

GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!

Lowlight is the dismantling of Theo. Thought for sure he was in Montreal for at least most of his contract.

Hilight - Theo getting shipped off. About time we made a bold move.

Honourable mention - going 7-1-0 vs. Boston!

The season had a lot to pick from, for my my choices would be

Highlight: Andrei Kostsitsyn's first NHL goal scored in a habs uniform/ Theo beating Garon and LA(at the time it meant something)

lowlight: lack of dicipline, how many times did 5 on 3's kills us?
