This is very true. BUT! If he hadn't done what he did, and they still scored - we would be saying "Why didn't he do anything to stop him." However, you are right about it being a routine save.
Anyone who knows hockey knows that 90 % of the time that puck would have deflected out of play. BUT i still feel bad for him because i guarentee he will be scapegoat in the papers tommorow.
It's nobody's fault. Rivet was showing how he wouldn't give up and really didn't want to lose. It's just unfortunate that he happened to tip the puck in the process. And Huet had no chance, so I don't blame him. My hat goes off to the Habs for a well played game and an entertaining series. And as for Carolina, I wish them the best of luck, because they're a great team with a lot of potential to do some postseason damage.
Hey I do blame Ryder for the brain cramp. All I'm saying is poor Rivet! He only got part of the puck.
No one is to blame. The game shoudl never have gone to overtime and if we had the finish that we needed all season, it would not have. When you put yourself into a one goal wins all position, you are subject to a "brain cramp" hurting you. And it did tonite. Ryder is young. Most of the team is young. This is a painful learning experience that will benefit these kids for years to come.

Very well put, Barry. It's nice that we can find some positive in everything: even losing in game 6, there's something good we can take from it. The young guys will certainly benefit from this, and I can't wait to see our Habs take to the ice next season. I'm certain Gainey will have addressed some of our needs; maybe get a Jason Arnott type player at center, and some of our rookies will have matured. And lastly, Guillaume Latendresse might be ready to make the jump if he has a good preseason!

We will be back Jedah. A bit of tweaking by the master Gainey, add a bit of Latendresse and Chipchura and we will be a contendah. As painful as it is to get knocked out in teh first round, I would rather these kids have that experience of what playoff hockey is all about. It will help them immensely.

You're right...blame is a harsh word. He made a mistake that cost us the series. We lose as a team though. I really do like Ryder but I realize he needs to work on some of the fundamentals that go along with experience. Hopefully this will help him learn...although the hard way

AB, the hard way is often the most effective way. So I don't mind particularly if that's the price to pay. We had a good series, but guys like Ryder definitely could have played better. I'm certain next year he will be and even better player and I can't wait!
I actually liked that we lost at home, as well, because the boys got a proper, well-deserved send-off from the home crowd. Most of the players, including Rivet and Ryder, can hold their heads high!

I liked that after the Canes scored the Fans still cheered Montreal. habs Fans may boo from time to time but throw thick and thin in the end they are still cheering and still show support.
