Some interesting analysis on TSN by Darren Pang regarding the screen goals on Huet. He says goalies normally know who is out there so if a shot is coming from a right shooting defenceman the goalie should look around the bodies in front to the left because that's where the shot will come from. He said Huet tends to sit there helplessly if he's screened rather than aggressively working through it.
I think it's more that our D is screening Huet (when the Canes aren't running him). If they're not gonna take out a forward or block the shot GET THE HELL OUT OF HIS WAY!

I think that if you could only get those players in the new "Plexiglass Model" Huet would have no problem

yes like panger should be giving out advice on how to play goalie , its not just 1 player screening at a time there is 2-3-4 , and some of our guys to boot , the canes are causing traffic and our d have to do a better job of creating a seam for huet to see .
Not only has he only played in 81 regular season games + 6 playoff games, Pang's stellar regular season play yeilded a career average of 4.05 gaa & .882 save % (of course this is stellar next to his playoff stats of 4.32/.866).
Honestly, like anyone should care what this, lousy, career backup has to say about any goalie.
It may not be as bad as Darren Pang makes it out to be, but I've definitely noticed too that it's probably his biggest weakness. It became obvious to me on the tying goal in that last 2 minutes in game 2. Huet never saw the puck. I think he needs to tell his defencemen that if they're not going to block the shot, to get out of the way. Carolina seems to have realized that weakness, and they keep shooting from the point in the hopes that he won't see it.
However, moving on to Cam Ward, his weakness seems to be handling the long shots from the point. I think if the Habs do to Ward what the Canes have been doing to Huet, we'll net a few on him.
It's not like Huet has a steller defense in front of him. Huet isn't our problem this season or now. When we get scored on, it's usually a mistake by his teamates.

Very true, AB. Which is why I wouldn't dwell on anything Darren Pang says. These guys are simply looking for things to say to make themselves sound intelligent to the average, uninformed viewer.
You know, at a time like this, I'm gonna get mauled for saying this, but I don't think our defensemen are the biggest problem right now. I think they've actually been playing ok. Sure Souray, Rivet and Markov have all looked less than stellar lately, but I think it's by far the forwards who are the biggest problem, going both ways. They've been playing a trap and still letting Carolina forwards head into our zone with speed, which puts the defense in a tough position. I think Montreal needs to scrap the trap because it just doesn't fit the players they have.
I think Huet was great... our saving grace really. Exclude the few fluky goals that every goalie lets in from time to time & a blind man could see that he's our future.
No ill feeling towards Huet here... he's the best, he's proven that. Hopefully he's our #1 starter next season.
