Montreal ALREADY had one in Kovalev, and a future one in Ryder. What they are lacking is a NORTH AMERICAN Center who is big and wears his heart on his sleeves. Ribeiro is good, but he isnt Thornton or Smyth. We need a player like that to run our 2nd or 1st line. Keep saku, but you gotta get more heart into the line-up. And im sorry but the Stanley Cup just isnt the same to European players. I REALLY hope people doint take offense to that, but its true. Would you rather win the most celebrated trophy of YOUR country, or the most celebrated of another country.....

I agree with all the posts especially the opening thread. As for Johab, I agree for the future but for now, I agree with Adam 13. We need offense and the best we have available is Kostitsyn. Not saying that he'd make a difference but he's worth a try.
The current lineup has potential scoring but the heart and desire to win at all costs is the elusive factor that plagues the Canadiens. After watching the Edmonton tonight, I wish that the Habs had half as much desire to win as the Oilers. Game 5 was a true test of mettle and there was a let down. A Canadian power forward is the answer. Koivu is a great leader and captain but we need a physical presence to decimate the opposition defence. Thornton is a textbook example of power forward.
Ryan Smythe would have been an awesome addition. Wish those trade rumours were true and Theo didn't get hurt. That trade would have been the answer. Tis too bad... The search goes on.
Having said this, I still have faith in an upset in the making.

Not sure about Letendress but like Adam mentioned we really need scoring on this team.
Riberio isn't good. Look at the Oilers - do they have a centre like Riberio? Nope. Stoll, Peca, Horcoff - guys who play there rolls very well and all have grit and determination. Can you see Riberio blocking a shot like Horcoff did in Game 5 - - - NOPE!
I think there are a lot of teams in this league, and I would argue nearly all of them wish they had a group of forwards as deep as Edmonton!
Smyth, Horcoff, Hemsky, Stoll all first liners. And the guys behind them are pretty good too Peca, Pisani, Winchester, Torres, Moreau and there is the kid in the pipeline you might have heard about a Rob Schremp...someone told me he was OK.
I can only hope Higgs, Pleks, Ryder, Kostitsyn, KChip, Guy, Kostitsyn Jr. can provide that type of core in the future!
They do need at least one more sniper, this playoffs it was about one player Kovalev, he's our only true sniper as we saw that Ryder and Higgins aren't ready yet for the big games....... We are also lacking a big center to park himself in front of the net, especially on the pp. I really hope we make a big attempt in getting Brad Richards.
