I am a little perplexed after yesterdays game...but is goalie interference no longer a penalty. I know Huet is the type of goalie that likes to come out and challenge shooters pretty agressively but he has been pushed around a little more than I appreciate in this series...Ever since the games in Carolina when the Habs were penalized a couple of times for sticking up for their goalie they seem to wary of teaching the Canes a lesson.
I don't understand how there hasn't been a single goalie interference penalty called on the Canes yet. I especially don't understand that on the goal that was waved off a ref can call incidental contact and not call goalie interference...Brind'Amour literally pushed Huet out of the way before shoving the puck in the net. And on the last goal Wallin skated right into Huet, making him lose sight of puck and allowing Brind'Amour to shove it in.
Its been a them all series long, the Canes crashing Huet because they know if they don't distract him he will shut them out almost every game. I have no problem with hardnosed hockey, but the Canes have been overzealous in their pursuit of goals many times. It seems that since they have gotten away with it a few times they have been even more egregious in this aspect of their game. Its ridiculous that the refs have not called 1 goalie interference penalty...all it would take is one for Carolina to smarten up.
I fear that this will continue into Game 5 and could be a major reason why the Habs lose this series...I can say that I certainly don't expect to see any of the refs from games 3 or 4 the rest of the way in the Habs-Canes series.
The call on Brindy was a good call...the one on Cullen, I believe it was, was bad...Fraser sat there and thought..."is that interference or a dive on Huet..?"...
