Well it was good while it lasted but it seems that the dream run for Huet is coming to an end. He has played solid in the last two games but not spectacular. We as fans might be expecting too much of the guy. He has been a career backup and had a great 20 or so games for the Habs. Habs fans see a guy play a few good games and annoint him the next great player.
The players have to realize that it's up to them to win the next game, Huet will keep us in the game but don't expect him to win it for us. I wish he would but shouldn't expect it.
It's going to be interesting in the offseason to see which goalie Gainey keeps, don't expect him to sign either one for more than a year or two.
Ya know JohnM, I thought Huet was still really good tonight. I thought many of the defensemen had their worst games in ages, never taking guys out in the crease, leaving him just totally high and dry on certain plays.
But yeah, it's true, you don't feel like it could be a shutout every night now.
Another back to reality issue: reality is Koivu is really frickin' important to this team...I don't know what's going on with Higgins, for example, but clearly he was NOT carrying Koivu all this time, because he's looked lost without him. I think Higgins has learned a lot from the captain, and maybe he'll eventually BE the captain, but the guy is still a rookie, and I think the injury to Koivu has really affected him.
Let's hope Gainey gets the boys better prepared for game 5. They can still do it!
cant agree with you there john , the goals tonight no goalie would have saved , the first goes in off dandy , the second was a shot that had he saved would have been save of the year , the 3rd and 4th were the same goal he makes the save they crash the net , bump him off the puck and put it in the net , does he have to play nets and clear the crease also . he has been good in this series , 936% for save second only to brodeur starting tonight . he is not the problem , the offense is , and the refs also , i may sound like a whinner saying it in my posts but the truth is the truth , .

you are right on about Higgins needing Koivu. Koivu's importance on the team is monumental. Without him it looked like the Canadiens couldn't carry the puck. Even Kovalev didn't look very effective carrying the play.
