DO NOT take this the wrong way. I feel for Saku and sympathize for him greatly, but we have a series the team is STILL in and winning. I hope the little guy gets better and recovers over the summer and can come back stong for us next year.
Recall, 2001-2002 season. Zednik goes doen on a dirty hit ( NO CALL ) and is out for the rest of the playoffs. What did the habs do that season . Used that as motivation to get back at the bruins and take them out of the playoffs. WHat more can a team do for their captain, a guy who gives his heart and soul to the team, than win the series for HIM! This is GREAT motivation for a team. Guys will definately need to step up, but it is something we can do. Win the next game and it is well within our grasp!
GO HABS GO!!!

Ultimately though Johab, the loss of Zednik killed us in the 2nd round, because he was essential to the top line and had been our hottest forward. The emotion generated by a loss like this can drive a team for only so long. Loss of Koivu will hurt big-time in later rounds, assuming we survive this one.
Personally, i will be pleased with a semi-final exit, because anything over that is over-achieving...Our team underachieved during the season, and really dont deserve going past the second round. I Just dont want to have to put up with critics saying we had a 2-0 lead in the series and blew it ...all summer long...

blowing a 2-0 lead could cause for changes in some clubs. Ask Joe Thornton about it. He was traded in November if you don't count the lock out season that would be 1 month of regular season hockey after the playoffs.
Also remember that Zednik was never the same after that hit and I am hoping that the same is not true for Koivu! I am hoping and expecting the team to step up and I also expect a growth in character for this club, but I see no blessing in disguise in this situation. We were winning with Koivu and probably could have swept if not for the accident.
