Guys let's face it. the officiating in game 3 was solid. first of all, we can't blame carolina for the high stick on koivu's eye... sticks just happen to shoot up like that all the time. plus, it's not like an eye injury is serious, his eye will probably just grow back. plus, he's even got another one! either way, this wasn't an important game, and 4-minute powerplays have never even proven to benefit a team. and don't say the refs owed the habs at least some kind of a make-up call just because their captain's eye got gouged out senselessly right in front of the ref. if anything, it was right for them to go harder on the habs after the non-call on koivu made them look so bad. good thing he smartened up in time to catch Komisarek do it :)
i think it was totally justified for Carolina to take it in OT on the powerplay, and i think we should stop being so hard on the refs and on the league.
If there's one thing i hope, it's that the Marouelli house doesn't fill with carbon monoxide tonite, killing him, his wife, his children and his dog.

Agreed..reffinng was horrid. However, that was not the difference. A kid by the name of Cam Ward was and my hat is off to him. He was outstanding. Good news is that I still feel the habs dominated Carolina and they were lucky to steal a game..and they know it.

Here's a great quote from Souray. And I agree with him 100%. The team did not pack it in after the high stick. Gainey should be coach of the year for instilling the calm in this team. They didn't panick, they didn't relaliate. They stuck to the plan and, if not for a bad bounce and a bad call, they'd been 3-0. Here's the quote:
(From nhl.com) "You can sit here and talk about the refereeing and whatever, but they're not going to see everything and there have been questionable calls probably all year long," Canadiens defenseman Sheldon Souray said. "It's black, white and gray this year, the refereeing. You can't blame them but is it frustrating? Yeah, sure it's frustrating.
"They certainly missed it, but stuff happens during the game. You don't want to blame the referees for anything."
