This post is partly to get away from bad reffing, Koivu-bashing and sick posters...............
I see Cam Ward was named first star. Extremely well-deserved (as is Garth Murray as #3). I'm particularly happy to see the star-namer get away from the automatic "OT goal-scorer named first star" bit that we usually see. I think that's stupid. A guy could have a lousy game and score a fluky goal on a bad bounce and get first star. That's simply nonsensical.
Having said that, Staal, who scored the OT winner, was named second star. But he did play well, so that's OK. Still, I thought Huet could have gotten the nod. 34 saves on 36 shots - .944 save %. Not too shabby..........

I heard the goals were a bit weak... is that true? Habtastic
The first Carolina one was a series of bad bounces; Souray swiped and missed, than Brind'amour and Rivet poked at it at the same time and it squiggled between Huet's pads to slide in. The OT goal was a good shot from inside the point, and Huet was screened and saw nothing. Zednik's goal was OK, a bit of luck to have the puck squirm to him, and a good shot up high.

I don't think so, Canes first goal was a deflection, possibly off of the D, I didn't feel Huet had a chance on it. 2nd goal was a decent screen shot up high from the point, Huet was down early, but that's what goalies do when they can't see the puck, take away the bottom of the net. The only fault I'll dump on Huet is his questionable puck handling on an OT PK just before the goal. A better choice would have been to set it up for the D to clear. Cam Ward played a great game, so did Huet.
