TRUE HAB FANS - Example of how a Hab playoff game can be viewed and celebrated
Permalink Closed

Day: Last night, April 24th, 2006

Place: My pad. About 15 minutes from the Bell Center.

Guests: 6 men and 1 woman. All 6 men have played hockey on "AA" or "AAA" caliber teams throughout their hockey journey. 2 players actually made it to Midget "AAA". THe only woman is an ex figure skater who is related to an ex Hab by the name of Guy Lapointe. I'm just trying to confirm that my guest know theri hockey.

Facilities: As you come into the main entrance ther hangs a signed Guy Lafleur hockey jersey. Give the games some ambience...the game was watched on a wide screen T.V. Oh yeah, On the living room wall hangs a picture of AB. Each guest was given a dart. (This is the only unaccurate thing that happened, maybe it's wishful thinking....lol)

Remarks Made Throughout the Night (The ones that I can remember):

Koivu's line looks flat. The whole line looks like they are not playing at the same tempo. Saks looks undecisive.

Kovy looks like the superstar he should of been all his carreer. He can really make a name for himself as being a great playoff performer.

Ward seems much more confident than Gerber.

Rob B. is one ugly f*@*

I hope Souray didn't hurt the wrist that almost ended his carreer.

The Habs are impressive, they have stones.

Bulis can really skate. This guy has wheels. Same goes for Perez.

I hope Huet doesn't lose his calm. The calm that he's notorious for having...

NOTICE: NO ONE USED THE WORDS "SUCK", "IDIOT", "USELESS" WHEN DESCRIBING A HAB. WHY? MAYBE BECAUSE WE ARE FANS AND IT'S THE ONLY TIME OF THE YEAR THAT ALL WE WANT IS A VICTORY....AND ALSO, IF YOU DO RAG ON A HAB USING PROPHANITY, YOU EITHER GET YOUR ASS KICKED OR GET BITCH SLAPPED.

In any case, my point is that wherever and with whomever you watch the game with, it doesn't matter. What matters is that we should not have posters dominate this board with repetitive negitivity and expressing that a player sucks. AB you are invited to my place any time but the girl I was speaking of, supports our team and captaintoo and she's into Judo . You would be welcomed anytime, but you would be out of you're league Mr. Billiant.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu > Judo.

Anyway, does your hand ever get tired from patting yourself on the back?

No seriously, sounds like you had a nice little get together. I personally don't like watching hockey games with a large group. Last night was just me and my girlfriend (who albeit doesn't understand hockey very much, but I like it that way). I find that when I watch games with people who know the game really well, it gets spoiled by everyone trying to give their analysis.

Regardless, looks like you had yourself a good time. My friends pad is about 5 minutes from the Bell Centre, right near Lucien-Lallier. How far are you exactly?

Nice job,  I worked until 10:30 last night.  I usually work a few hours OT a day, but last night broke a land speed record to make it home and crack a sleeman's about 30 seconds before Ryder scored.  I didn't walk into a signed jersey, but I could see my Habs room out of the corner of my eye.  It's funny the sacrafices we as fans make when playoffs come around.

Gotta agree with you on this. And the idea that someone would kick someone's ass over a remark sounds like he should be cheering for the Flyers or Millwall

Sorry buddy. But I welcome ALL views on this board including the "Sucks" and "useless", although I prefer not to talk like that and be more constructive. Everyone has their own way of cheering for a team, or a player. And everyone has a right to express an opinion. But please do not have the gall and audacity to tell me how I should and should not cheer. That is better saved for Communist China.

Just pissed that even when they win...the same posters rag on the same player. Ok then , let's keep things as they are. but it's like a movie I've seen a dozen times. The story remains the same. Saks does Suck!

On top of that...if you go to AB's post "Brilliant" . All but one poster said how lame it was to consistently bring up Koivu time and time again. BUt Barry's the one calling ME a communist....

Exactly, so we can call for someone's head on this board if we feel like. To each his own buddy, to each his own.

Hey Key...I read your post and get that you were frustrated by how lame it is for someone who posted nothing....nothing...that's right...nothing...in the game thread... to then turn up and post his only comment, as a negative jab. What the...

You are very correct on this Key...Very correct.

Damn Internet, my ISP seems to have once again screwed up my connection. It seems every time I try to view my favorite hockey teams forums of choice, I end up on this Psychology forum.

People sure are an endless source of entertainment, don't get me wrong, I'm rarely without blame in this category...but seriously, Barry hits it right on. The best way to handle an opinion you think is moronic is to choose one of the 3 choices, with my current fave being IGNORE IT. Bickering back and forth about who's great and who sucks is grade school behavior and in my opinion there should be a private thread that adults are not forced to see. Too many people onthis board want everyone to agree with their opinion and see things their way, that's just is not realistic. I don't care for the constant negative posters, but if ignored, they'll eventually give up.

(I refuse to further provoke the negative repetitive posts anymore, it's wasted energy...please don't confuse my opinion of these posts with the insightful critique posts than many quality members posts, these are an intregal part of this board)

If people are responding and agreeing to the childish posts that are dangerously close to the majority of posts the past couple of weeks, well, sadly that will be the direction of the forum...that's their rights as fans.

I would like to point out that a few weeks ago many people were calling for Figaro's head on a stick, it was alledged that his over moderating was destroying the board. I never wanted him yanked as a moderator, but I was int he camp that he should lighten up on the trigger finger. Now, with Figaro removed as a moderator for a couple of weeks, things have continued their steady decline on this board in fact it may actually be much worse. Many people are bickering and at each others throat...and the team's winning?!?! How sad is that!

Figs, It wasn't your fault after all. It's been bugging me since I provoked you in a thread and I appologise for that, not a classy move on my part.
