His first shot on net in the whole game while falling down(on his butt more than skates) and Higgins turns it into gold.

Was Saks within 20 ft. of the net tonight at all? At least Ribs was creating chances for himself and driving the net.

This is the worst playoff game I've seen out of Saks yet.

Canes are now rising to the occasion, while we may not be able to stretch much more out of our guys. Therefore Saks has to step it up very soon.

Saks is looking like a pilon right now. No legs at all.

Is he injured? What's the excuse this time?

As for Bonk...by far our best. How about him winning draws while down two guys. The faceoff stats are decieving because Saks won one defensive zone all night while Bonk won many important ones.

What a brain cramp by Gainey not putting the Bonk line out when we needed defensive coverage. They had the extra guy so you have to treat it like a PK. That could of cost us the series.

Saks not even in Kovy's league right now. That new contract looks like it should belong to Kovy.

Just can't help yourself, can you?

Be happy, AB, we won - again!

Why is it necissary to call out Koivu game after game in new threads?

He didn't have a lousy game and was integral in the GWG. As critical as I've been of the Finn this season, this is just overkill.

What line came up with the game winner? That's what counts AB. YOU ARE A FREAKIN BROKEN RECORD...

and taking into consideration that that it's the playoffs and the Habs are up 2-0 against a team that looked to have few weaknesses and ALL YOU DO IS RAG ON SAKS.

ARE THERE ANY REAL HAB FANS OUT THERE, WHO ACTUALLY CAN SAVOUR A VICTORY FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES? Honestly AB, I'm losing respect for you.

Hey AB when is Koviu ever in Kovalev's league?  Not a shot at Koviu, but I think we all know that Alexei is our best player.   I am sure I will take some flack from the Koviu lovers, but that is MHO.

Give me a break. Not a good game from Koivu, but there must be some reason he logged more minutes than any other forward. Guess we should replace Gainey with you AB, and get Ribeiro some more minutes.

Agreed Pablo Honey. Why can't everyone cut Saku some slack? He may not be as dominant as we would like him to be but he is making some key plays. Since we are ahead 2 games to none, we have to accept the fact that Saku and all the other Canadiens are doing more good than bad.

By the way, what is Skau's +/- rating in the playoffs?

Has anyone ever denied that Kovy is a better player than Saks? ALL I CARE ABOUT RIGHT NOW IS THAT THE HABS ARE BETTER THAN THE CANES...AND I HOPE IT LASTS.

I just realized that AB was really talkng about himself when he states "Mr. Brilliant".

AB, we've been suffering through all these threads where you were whining about being provoked by Muller (in Muller's vastly more low key post than yours here). Thankfully I didn't get involved in that discussion, but now I'm putting my two cents in.  Please don't make a big thing out of how you're being "provoked" from now on, ok? Because this is a pretty lame time to come in with this post. Enjoy the victory man.

A lame attempt, I agree but at least he's consistent...lol

New avatar in honour of this thread's creator.

By the way, Ab, Koivu's first shot was on a 2-1 when he fired it high (and wide) as per Rollie's scouting report on Gerber Baby. At least bash with correct facts.

Actually he had two of those (one of which nearly hit the top corner), following which Murray Wilson said, for the umpteenth time tonight in his down in the dumps drone..."the Habs have to start getting it on the net"

Actually the box scores show zero shots on goal. Was that Higgins nice pass from behind the net not after a Ward rebound? Did Saks pock it into the corner or at the net before that OT goal?

Anyways, our first line center needs to get his offense in gear because like I said, Canes are now coming up for air and rising to the challenge. They actually haven't played that much worse. Blame Gerber for making his team look bad. Also, one assist from our top center on our top line with the most ice time, won't cut it. Six goals scored by us and by association with Higgins sweet pass, he gets one assist. He needs to be our best centerman from here on in, not our third or fourth best.

Ab, GET A LIFE!  There are more players on this team than Koivu.  The team as a whole won tonight....Be happy.  I am beginning to think you may be protesting too much....do you secretly love the guy?  Okay, not nice but give us a break...why can't you just be happy with the win?  It might have been not pretty at times but the team as a group did what they had to do.

Our Habs did us proud tonight...at this point let's just enjoy the win.  It's time to change your record....the tune is getting very old.

Exactly! Also when Saks was on the ice, I chewed my nails off because Canes were all over his line.

I'm also not being crude and saying he sucked but just being realistic. What I'm saying is, he needs to step it up. We need him because now Canes are right with us with Gerber out.

Also, I don't think the other lines can play much better. They're working and giving their all.  I do think that Saks can play better and should.

See AB...after the first game I posted a mostly positive post.

Now.. we win a thriller in OT off the Koivu line and you come up with this post? Holy smokes batman...you have lost your chickens.

I stated in previous posts that I did not think Koivu had a great game...but I mean come on...why choose to type that post up after a big victory like that...even if you thought it was true? Garbage AB, Garbage.

Yup and AB WROTE: I would gladly trade a potential skilled floater like Kovy for a Peca just to get more leadership.

And-o isn't getting into another mud fling-off with Saku's fan-club...so I would like to pose a question.

...the Habs iced four centres last night - one was the weak-link all night long - who was it???

(HINT - And-o is thinking of a number between 10 and 12!!!)

And-o thinks that is being very, very, very generous!

P.S.  Yes AB...that your post was spot-on!!!  SPOT-ON!

AB and And-o will never change. That's just the way it is. They hate when the Habs lose and hate when the Habs win. Good to see that they are consistent, just like the Leafs since the 60's.

As for Sak, the funny thing is I will agree he didn't have a great game. The other funny thing is he was still involved with two of the Habs goals. One while winning a key faceoff against And-o's lover Brindy and the other by bringing the puck into the Canes zone and then passing to Higgs behind the net. Not bad for an off night...

Anyways it doesn't matter. The Habs won, go poop on someone elses parade boys. Have I said this before, if you aren't happy with the Habs and their captain, go play some golf with the Leafs....

AB, just choose another site because you are pissing on our parade and we haven't had much occassions in the past few years to celebrate anything during the playoffs. Can you shut up with your lame remarks...at least for the playoffs?

People ...people...please... Ok we know Koivu has had the start to the playoffs we were not hoping, but lets look at the fact that this could have been worse! What if the Pleks, Bonk and Ribeiro line didnt step up? These 3 lines have been carrying us thus far. Lets just hope that if this line can catch fire like they did in our late 15 game stretch run late in the season, it can light a bigger fire this postseason!!

Let's not forget the leadership Koivu bring to the team and how he's helped the younger guys excel. Maybe he isn't putting the puck in the net himself but you can be damned sure he helping motivate others to.

I know. Way too easy to forget the entire off-ice part of the equation.

Love the new, multi-appropriate avatar, Figs!

The team is doing ok. That's the part that And-o and AB don't understand. It's a team sport and everyone is stepping up when it counts. If they want to nit-pik, go ahead and do it to Carolina, Philly, Dallas and the NYR who are down 0-2.
