The Hockey Analysts Were Right!

I keep repeating that when the season beagn, hockey analysts were stressing that to ahcieve success in the new NHL you need 2 things:


Solid Goaltending and Solid Special Teams.


Those were the two reasons for the victory last night. Huet was a rock and both our PP and PK were great.

Goaltending and special teams were huge last night, but I don't think they were the two biggest.  I would throw in the amazing back checking ALL of the defensemen did last night.  The 'Canes were having fits trying to get anything going down low, and as for dump and chase, the Habs were gaining possesion just about evry time.  The d-men were my first star last night.

Those are pretty general statements Key. Im not too impressed or suprised to see that they were right. It was the same BEFORE this season and if will be the same next season. Being a hockey analysist and saying you need solid goaltending and good special teams to be sucessful is like being a scientist and saying humans need food and air to survive. We all know it, and it isnt a very suprising statement. Heck i could make millions by becoming a psycic and tell people their futures. They wont be the most detailed...but i guarentee you ill be right. To prove it. I predict Montreal and Carolina will play a NHL hockey game monday night. I also predict that i will have to use the bathroom in the next 24 hours at least twice. I also predict that somehow, this topic will turn into a pro/anti saku thread....

Well Johab...I began this thread because before the series everyone was trying to figure out what it wouild take for the Habs to beat the Canes. All kinds of ideas were being written like being physical, putting pressure on their D, quick puck movement out of the D zone...etc. The truth is that all those things are important but what really wins games are THE 2 THINGS that were said prior to the season. Goaltending and special teams.


It was just a reminder that the Basics are what brings success.


BUT thank you for your sarcasm, it's greatly appreciated. Some people just can't resist a chance to mock. It's just sad when someone mocks another when he/she doesn't undertsand the point. Next time I'll write a 100o0word post to make sure it doesn't come across as too general.
