Jim Hughson (SP) does his job, he calls the game and doesn't add to much of his own thoughts. Well Neale clearly was rooting for the Canes. Instead of being happy about the Canadian team winning he would make comments like. Carolina is in trouble. If it were the leafs he would have said, The Leafs have the canes in a strangle hold or some other cliche. Overall i was thinking about tuning into RDS many times during the night but didn't. One thing i found amazing is during the intermission of the second overtime (Buffalo - philly) I went back the CBC to see some of their analysis. I found that instead of talking about an upset and a solid preformance from Christobal Don Cherry decided it would be more fitting to talk about Tie Domi and how the Leafs don't deserve him.
I thought Jim Hughson did a great job. It's always a treat to hear him do the play by play rather than Cole. He's completely unbiased and calls the game accurately.

Those things he may be, but after listening to the excitable RDS guys all year, Hughson puts me to sleep. I like his neutrality (must be the influence of all those Swiss players), but a little inflection now & again wouldn't hurt!

True that nobody is more excitable than the RDS guys. They're very good. However, as far as English broadcasters go, Hughson is definitely one of my favorites.
My favorite would have to be Dale Arnold on NESN because he's hilarious. The guy is so unbelievably biased to the Bruins that I can't help but laugh.
As annoying as the guy who does the PEnguins and Sabres games is....you cant help but like him. He has the WEIRDEST clichés in the book and almost sounds like he is having a heartattack while broadcasting. I to this day believe he has a coach sitting there with him telling him when he should breathe!

Neale wasn't as bad as I expected him to be. He had moments where he was complimentary of the Habs (though, I did get the feel he was jealous that his team was out). Houghson was good, but I keep thinking of EA Sports Hockey games and the automated voice he does. It will take me a couple rounds to get used to him. But, he has a big smile, you can tell he loves the game and enjoys what he does. Plus, he wore a really sharp suit and made Neale look like he shopped at Salvation Army*.
I think anyone who's played any of the EA Sports games thinks of them immediately when they hear Hughson. But frankly, I find that the best part about him because it's funny for me.
And actually, I've thought of those games when I've heard other people on TV such as Bill Clement and Daryl Reaugh

Too true. Normally it is pretty funny, although annoying in Habs-Bruins games. The Bruins announcers are the most impressively biased of any I've ever heard.
As biased as Neale is against the Habs, just think of who is laughing last and who is enduring a slow agonizing torment during the Habs-Canes series. It must be burning Neale up knowing he has to watch and provide analysis for a team that put his team out. So I can take his biased commentary knowing in the end, it is the HAbs who are NOT playing golf in the spring.

Yeah, I love the sound of Hughson's voice, in a non-gay way. There is something about it that goes hand in hand.
