Saku played a brilliantly technical game. Smart, gritty, clever plays all night. No huge make your head turn plays a la' Kovalev...but it takes performances like that to win games. Great game.
However...
Huet kept the boys in this one and Gerber was perhaps the worst netminder I have seen in a playoff performance in a while so...
And...Souray looked god awful on the first goal and an at least 4-5 times throughout the night.
And... Hab and AV's fan...Komi played a real solid defensive game last night...might have been the most solid d-man last night...
And...I stated previously that one of the "rookies" would have to step up and be that unexpected key guy...Thank you Plek!!! Great game all around from him.
AND...Thank god we went with Sunny. I alsways liked him despite all the bad talk on here...he plays a technically sound game...key in the playoffs. Also Kudos to BONK and Kovalev.
Thought Markov had a weak game by his standards.
BUT...we can't get outshot 43-24 and expect to go very far eh?? Unless Huet is really THAT good...and maybe he is???
Yup Muller, nice breakdown of the game. Like you said, we can't continue to let the other team get 40+ shots on net, even though not alot were great chances... The one stat that was quite positive is the number of blocked shots, the Habs had 22 and Carolina had 10. See any influence here....

I guess nobody cared to notice!!!
...And-o noticed Saku played the least of any Hab centre...he got schooled all-night in the face-off dot...Gainey had to constantly try and keep his line away from certain Hurc's...and his lazy arse first line change led directly to the Canes opening goal (as pointed out in 'Coaches Corner').
Too funny how a win always gets linked back to Saku by two worshippers here - ALWAYS!!!

What a garbage post. Hey And-o, do you watch the games? Good lord man, anyone who truly understands the game could see that the game played by Koivu was positionally brilliant.
One thing I did notice about Koivu last night was he seemed to be "slower" than his normal self in the offensive zone. However, that was one of his best "technical" games I have seen him play all year. He cuts people off in the neutral zone and squeezes them always to one side...the defenman obviosly know this because they were cheating all night closing down the left side of the rink all night. Honestly...watch it again.
Like Barry, I like to study the game. I watched the game all over this morning...perhaps you should as well And-o.
Muller93 wrote: I like to study the game. Study harder! ...honestly! The first thing you post is how great Saku was??!?!?!!? Too funny!!! The guy had an assist...who didn't though?!?!?! Get over him already!!!
Uh-huh. If this was a court case...And-o would be wearing the proverbial "black glove"...on his head.
...after Kovy's 2 goal effort...Huet's near perfect performance...Pleks major league performance...Bonk and Sunny's PK effort (and game winning goal)...not even to mention how Souray and Rivet logged the mega minutes...and Mulsy comes out and starts off by telling us how technically brilliant Koivu was!!!
If that is 'hate' towards one player...YEP - GUILTY!!!

And your point? He was. technically brilliniant. Just becuase you can't back your points up with anything substantial does not mean you have to attack me for a surgically precise analysis of the game...
A number of players played...well? Or was it crappy goaltending? Something tells me Brodeur would have stopped Bonk's, Higgin's, Souray's goals eh?
But I still don't get your point. I stated Plek, Bonk, Sunny, Kovalev all had great games. My point was our leader did exactly that. He reminds me of Carbo in a way. Not in style but in how they can control a game through the "little" things. Often unnoticed by many. Carbo was lucky because he had the supporting cast that allowed him to not be picked apart for "ony" getting and assist...big whoop...this game is won and lost on the "little" things.
Oh well And-o. I'm sure you will spin yourself around and around until you either go off the deep end...or join all the hab fans in a big cheer for the awsome Koivu...
Muller, why would you hang your neck out like that on the Saks compliments when he played so average? He was easily shown up last night by Plecs and Bonk. Actually, it's a toss up between him and Ribs on who was more effective.
Your opening thread had some good points until that silly brilliant comment totally ruined it.
Every poster on this board has to know, he needs to play better and merely clogging up the nuetral zone isn't enough from him. He is paid to produce firstly while playing solid both ways. He isn't paid to be our Carb. type player. Bonk is and did his job last night.
AB was going to be polite on the Saks thing and hope he steps it up. I wasn't going to comment on his play at all until I read your silly post.
He needs to step it up because Canes will.....nuff said.

Great post AB. You can't win an argument without valid points.
What a disgrace! I was quite satisfied and proud that the Habs took it to the Canes last night....UNTIL I READ THE RANTING ON THIS PAGE....and the topic: Koivu! Why? Who the heck cares!
Why was last night's game disected? The team played an all-around solid game and capitalized on most of their scoring chances. This crap is getting old guys! Some of you sound like hockey professors. Pin-pointing every freakin' incident. The Habs were losing with less than a minute into the game and they came back and beat up on a great team. What the heck are you all criticizing?
LISTEN: This is Habs web-site, for Habs fans. We're a long way from winning anything and last night was the start we needed. Don't crap on our parade or choose another damn website.
actually and-o he was 7of 15 in the face off dept. not great but considering most were against brindamour ,one of the best in the league , not exactly schooled as you put it .

Great point, Reddog. I was going to mention that, then forgot.............

The first thing you post is how great Saku was??!?!?!!? Too funny!!! The guy had an assist...who didn't though?!?!?!
Did you notice all the other posts with no Koivu comments in them? Last time a checked, he was still a Hab.
And to answer your second question, the following players did not register any assists:
Murray, Komisarek, Perezhogin, Markov, Bulis, Zednik, Huet...not to mention Staal, Brind'amour, Recchi, Weight, Larose, Williams, Wallin, Vasicek, both Adams', Kaberle, Commodore, Tverdovsky, Stillman, Weslye, Hedican, Ward and Gerber. I guess that isn't fair, though, to add goalies in there, but you asked.
PS - scoresheet is often a superficial assesment of a game.

Thanks Fig. I especially liked your last point. It's so true.
