Everybody contributed. 12 players got points tonight and Huet made some big saves. Each line scored and defence contributed as well.

Can't ask for much more of a team effort.

John, this game is so hard to comment on because it was an aberation. How often is it that you run into such aweful goaltending like that in the playoffs? Next game could be totally different if they get the bounces and we don't.

I agree, you take the bounces when you get them and build on it. As a team, we did everything right. Didn't get too fancy with the puck...except a few nice plays from Plecs, Higgins, Bonk and Kovy...but as a whole, just threw it deep and forechecked which opened up the high play. Our D was good at letting Huet see the puck or blocking the shots along with the defensive forwards.

All the boys can do now is play the exact same way next game.

Had a little laugh at the irony of your sarcasm on my opening thread about who will be our best player and our best unexpected player. You chose Bonk sarcastically and he was actually our best centermen with his PK efforts and important third goal. He made the biggest difference down the middle tonight. The guy, next to Saks, is our highest paid centermen, he should make a difference every game like that. kudos to him!

Also Kudos to Sunny, he was solid and did his thing. Showing some heart after being benched so often. Credit Gainey for finally using him over Downey. He signed him for this purpose, so might as well use him until his contract is no more.

Bring on game two and some more Kovy and Huet magic!!!We're ready!!!

Actually I chose Bonk after he scored the go ahead goal... Wasn't being sarcastic, just choosing the right time to post.

I think Bonk can be a huge difference maker in this series.  To get your 4th line going like he can is what this team needs.  Lets hope he keeps going.

I hate to oversimplify but in this case it is hard not to. Montreal got great goaltending, Carolina got AHL goaltending. Period. End of story. Game over.  Bottom line is they got the win. But as you said, they cannot allow teams to get 44 shots a game and get 20 on the opposition and expect to win.

Me, too.  He has quickly become the second best centerman on this team.  Sure, it took 7/8 of the season to get him going .  With the way way he has been playing (and the same goes for Murray), I wish they would stop calling them the fourth line.  There is such a negative conotation to it.
