I wonder who will start the next game for Carolina? I'm hoping Gerber. He's stone cold right now, has no confidence, and should he allow a soft one or two, an unproven rookie comes in cold from the bench.
Should they start the rookie (Ward?), he's unproven and will be nervous. Should HE allow a softie or two, the man with no confidence comes in.
It's good either way!
This bodes well for Les Boys. A quick goal or two in Game two could spell trouble for the home team............

No dilemma, Gerber's the guy they'll go with. He's a much better goalie than we saw tonight...but let's hope craptacular Gerber shows up Monday! From what I've heard about their backup, Cam Ward, and his stats, they'd be better off with Burt Ward!
The real question is, does it matter? The Habs bordered on perfect tonight. If we can keep this up, look for us in the post season.
I'd love to agree with you, rwp, but they were outshot 43-21. It was hardly a perfect game by the boys. They had all the bounces and out-goaltended the 'Canes. If they can keep that up, we're OK, but can we expect crappy goaltending every night by the opposition?

Yeah the Canes out shot us last night. But how many quality chances did they have? 43 shots is a lot less impressive when 35 of them were from bad angles. I was looking for the scoring chances but haven't found it. I really believe we played our game perfectly. And as for my it doesn't matter comment. Gerber is scared now, I am sure he had nightmares last night about Kovalev unloading that rocket on him again. The Canes goaltending is there biggest problem. The only way it will matter is if they take away our scoring chances.

Hummm...I don't know rwp21e...you might want to watch the game over methinks. Especially the first 12 mins of that game. Huet made at least 5-6 really huge saves AND they wacked the goal post last night...
I am not questioning how great Huet played. But the game was not 2-1 lopsided for the Canes. Believe me, I do watch. I often feel after reading things on here that I am the only one who does. And as for huge saves, me thinks you should re watch. He made some good saves, maybe 1 or 2 huge saves all night. Shots from the outside call for huge saves? Huet was brilliant positionally.
I'm with you rwp2le, Huet's positioning is among the best I've seen and he was at the top of his positional game last night! I also agree that many of the shots were from the outside and could have only been serious scoring chances if they were on Gerber Huet made more than his shares of quality saves however, guess the rest was good for him after all.

He played a top notch game. He didn't give them room to score, took away all of the net. I think the best save he made was the one on that washed up bum who wears the C. I know his name, but my hatred for Carolina is the same as my hatred for the Leafs. Huet was our best player, not because he slid across the net on his back, and threw a pad in the air to make an insane save. He was our best because he didn't have to do that once. I have been saying it all week at work, Gerber is going to crumble. Was glad to see my prediction come true.
I was really happy to see Huet solid up high when he was down. He made a couple of quality save up high from his knees, not the easiest save for any goalie. Carolina went low stick side 12 times on Huet last night. It seems everyone beleives "the book" on him...everyone but Huet that is.

Thank GAWD Gainet came to his senses and stared Huet..because IMHO if Abby had played last night the hbas would have lost.

The would have lost ??? Lmfao no they would have won too .....But Huet is the go to guy, and Gerber looked bad, one bad game, don't base it all on a game once again guys.....
