Abby gets the call

Sportsnet is claiming Huet will sit tonight.

Hmm.....resting him up for Jersey?  Or do you folks think Gainey's going to continue alternating if they're both playing well through the first round?

I'm really baffled by Gainey continueing to go with Aebischer.  Holy Crap, Huet is the 2nd hottest goalie in the league who is the singular reason we're even in the playoff hunt!!!  We're desperate for 1 point...great way to cool a hot goalie off is to let him watch the reboundatron steal his job.  I respect Bob Gainey, but this has me baffled.

Heres a question for ya. The way gainey has been playing Abby lately, do you think he will get game on in the playoffs or will huet get the call because he is who brought us there? Personally i like the fact that there is a possibility of having 2 hot goalies ( at the moment Huet is still my guy ) but look what having 2 goalies did for Carolina a couple years back with Irbe and Weekes, now there have Gerber and Weekes. Seems to work good!

Is Huet injured or something?

I can't imagine why Gainey would be playing Aebischer at this point.

As for fatigue, it's overrated. Huet, just like the Habs in general, will have to show he can handle the intensity. Sure Huet's new to all this, but he's had plenty of rest lately. I want to see him in every game until he has a bad one.

I like using both goalies as well. I hope Bob has explained his plan for goaltender usage to Huet an Abby. I want them both psychologically sound for the playoffs. at least as sound as a goalie can be...who would want to stop rubber coming at 100mph....

I understand that BG wanted to play mind games with his goalies to create a friendly competition but 2 games before the playoffs and you sit Huet? No one can convince me that Huet isn't a better goaltender than Abby. He's the reason why we are making the playoffs.

I'll avoid trying to make sense of this for the next two games BUT if Huet doesn't start in the playoffs...I'll @#$%$%##%%

I feel the same way.  Gainey is using an old coacing technique on the team, the media, the goalies & the oposition...keep 'em guessing.  I support this, but I worry about cooling Huet off.  I hpe Huet starts the playoffs, as he's really earned it, but the bottom line is...if we're winning it's all good.

This is Gainey further devalueing Huet to sign for less in the off season by making a point that we actually don't have a number one goalie...the gamble is, Huet may not sign and go else where for more money then we are left with Abi and Danis.

Honestly...And-o has had a feeling for at least a week now that Abby is in fact the guy that Gainey will turn to heading forward!!!

It's actually Gerber and Ward now.

But that's not important; what's important is that Gainey is only using Aebischer right now because he knows he won't play in the playoffs. Let's come to our senses. Huet is probably the hottest goalie in the league right now next to Kipprusoff. So if you're the coach, do you play the 2nd hottest goalie or a goalie who is average at best and gives away huge rebounds? Even if Aebischer is winning right now, Huet is so much better. The job is his.

If we use Aebischer right now... we may not see the playoffs.

I think it says Aeby gets the start on RDS.... but my French is weak so don't quote me on that!

As far as I am concerned we just lost the game. Why gainey insists in making these dumb decisions is beyond me. I know we need one point to clinch a spot. Actually we were hard pressed to beat buffalo or jersey so we may not make it anyway. Thats why I wanted the better goalie in and its not Abby. So when we lose tonight its is then a must win against Jersey which will not happen even with Huet in. So tonight was the better game to get the point by Huet playing.  Sorry but those are my feelings  I will now go lift a few coronas     Bye

I didn't think you agreed ... I was just adding my views of that situation if it is indeed the case.

I for one don't think we will see Abby.  I wish I was 100% sure, as I would start pouring some Sleeman's Cream Ale down my throat now.  Come on Huet.
