Im almost guarenteeing that the leafs dont get in. They need a miracle! And the Canucks finally through their season away, so they are out. So, that leaves us with Ottawa-Calgary-Montreal-Edmonton ( In order of who i think could take the cup ) Hope Canada can bring another to the final this year. When and if Montreal is out....Calgary will be my team!! What about you guys? and Girls?

The Oilers are my #2 team.  I love Ryan Smyth.  This guy just oozes Canadian hockey.  Plus he has a pretty sweet mullet.

Calgary for me, gotta gove watching Kipper stand on his head every game. Plus they're a really hard working lunchbox kinda team.

That's my exact order of who would take the cup but I'd like to see if not Montreal take it then Ottawa. I don't see Calgary or Edmonton getting out of the West.

Kiprusoff is the best player in the league, PERIOD.  Without him they are a 10th place team.  With that goaltending, I think Calgary has a great shot at making it to the finals again, especially now that they have home ice advantage.

After Montreal, I'm cheering for Colorado, as I always do. I'd cheer for LA after that but those bums eliminated themselves. So after Colorado, I'm rooting for Buffalo.

I've never been too captivated by the whole Canadian team psychology. Frankly, I'm happy teams like Vancouver aren't in because I like teams, not for their location (with the exception of LA), but for their organizations. I would root for Ottawa or Edmonton though, but never Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary.

I don't cheer for teams because they are Canadian.  I like the Oilers because of a few key players, but truth be told when it is not the Habs it is every team except TO or Buffalo, I don't know why I hate the team so much, but man they are a very close second to the leafs for me.

The Oilers are good and that's why I support them. I like guys like Pronger, Peca, Smyth, etc. I also find them to be a really good organization. And when you support the Oilers, I find it hard to cheer for Calgary. It's like Montreal and Toronto: you have to pick one.

I think the Flames are over rated.  Jerome Iginlia is not the super star that team makes him out to be.  (can't wait to see the abuse I take from the comment)  I do like Kipper, but I will take my boy Ryan Smyth any day.  I would be in heaven if he became a Hab.

I'm with you Jedah, it's either Edmonton or Calgary. My fav Canadian teams in order are Montreal, Edmonton, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver... I think Toronto is too deep into the US Dark-Side to be considered truly Canadian anymore... :)
And ya, I would also take Ryan Smyth any day, but not without the mullet! :)

I agree, Iginlia is overated, still you've gotta love a hard working team and a goalie like Kipper.

I'll start the abuse now. Flames barely missed out on a cup last season. Overrated? Iginla was spectacular in those playoffs.

Anyway, I prefer Edmonton too. But to think Smyth is on the level of Iginla...? (I'd love to see either of them in a Hab jersey! A guy like Smyth, plus a top 2 centre with size, plus a top defenseman, and we're among the elite....)

Smyth and Iginlia aren't even the same type of player, although I do think Smyth has more points this year, more goals too.  Iggy is one of those players who shows up offensively when he feels like it.  And we all know how people on here love to critisize that.  One great season, and all of a sudden people feel he is going to score 50 goals every year.  Iggy would be a great addition to any team, but not to build your offense around.

Ya I would have mention the Avs but I thought he ment only out of Canadian teams, ya every year since Montreal never makes it far I go for Colorado. Been like that ever since Roy played his first game with them in '96.

Quick question, how many Flames games have you seen?

Hmmm, Well you quoted two different people there, so who are you asking the question? If it's me, 2 or 3 this year.

I would think I have watched as many if not more NHL games this year as anyone.  I bought the NHL package, and hockey is on my tube every night.  I have probably seen 15 flames games this year.

For some reason I cannot explain, my second favourite team has been Pittsburgh for years.  And of course with local phenom Sid the Kid there now, it's even more entrenched.

I generally cheer for the Canadian clubs, but not the Laffs of course.  But really, other than the Habs, I have no great affinity for any other team.  Once the Habs are out of the playoffs, I will generally not watch again until the finals.

I am not a huge Pens fan, but I used to love watching Super Mario.  I would say he was probably the most exciting player I have ever seen.  He may have looked like he had cement skates on, because he moved so slow, but wow what offensive vision.  I actually liked the Pens until recently.  I am not a huge Crosby fan right now, but his play is something else.  I love the intesity he brings.  I don't know what it is about him I don't like.  Maybe it was all the hype.  Not sure, but he has impressed me much more lately.

I don't really have a second favourite team.

I guess I go for Canadian teams, except the Laffs, if the Habs are done, but hardly with a whole lot of enthusiasm. Over the last few years probably Edmonton more than any, although I would always root for Ottawa when they played Toronto. I don't much like the Canucks either. Calgary's ok, but only because they have Iginla and they were an underdog team for a while there.

And I respected Detroit when Scotty was coach there. I still dig Yzerman, Shanahan, Maltby, McCarty, etc... I was REALLY happy to see them sweep the Flyers in the finals (97 was it?). How can you not get a kick out of Igor Larionov of all people shutting down bigmouth anti-Quebec Lindros? And how can you not have a soft spot for Konstantinov, now in a wheelchair?

Pens are also my second favourite team and then FLames.

My most favourite player of all time is Mario Lemeiux.

Also for rwp21e...how can you not dig Iginla? He may not be a pretty boy and flashy but he gets the job done. 34 goals/ 31 assists/ +6 on a team that doesn't score goals and has the defense first philosophy. The guy does it all...fights, passes, scores, works the boards, solid two way player and is a total class act. I'd take him any day in a trade for any Hab.

Yup, I agree, Plouf. Detroit was my second fav club for a while, then it was Colorado... Edmonton was always in the mix, but I don't really have a second fav anymore. I am also like Nil, when the Habs are out, I watch the finals mostly. This year... I watch none!

I agree he would be great as a Hab, but he was going to lead the league in scoring wasn't he?  We as well are an offensively starved team, Kovy has 1 less point, and 15 less games, and all I hear is how ****ty his production is.  I would love Iginilia on the Habs, he would be great on any team, but he is not the player to build you O around.

The sad part is Bob Cole and Harry Neale will still be around to call the games.   Even worse, should Montreal play Ottawa in the 1st round guess who get to call that series?

Great, all the more reason to watch RDS. I truely sympathize those Canadiens fans who do not have access to french telecasts of habs games. Even if you don understand the language, it isnt half as bad as watching it in english. Dont worry guys, Johab is on his way up!!
