Credit the Leafs...and credit Sundin!
Permalink Closed

The Leafs have played nearly perfect hockey over the past few weeks!

In fact, I doubt anyone...especially Ottawa...would want to face them in round one of the playoffs!

Over the past two weeks, Mats Sundin has been the most dominant NHL player since Mark Messier won his last Stanley Cup with Edmonton (without #99)...and everyone here should know by now what And-o thinks of the 'Moose'!  And-o is serious!!!  Mats has quite literally 'willed' his team back into the playoff race!

And-o's advise to Mats Sundin is simple...DO NOT wait too long before realizing that your only hope of winning a Cup is to follow in the steps of Ray Bourque!

(...and please do not turn And-o's thread into a 'go cheer for the Leafs' thread.  Or a Saku Koivu bashing/supporting thread.)

I'll grudgingly give a tip of the hat to Sundin, he's played like a man possesed the last 14 games...if it was the last 18 games they'd be in

A small part of me wants them to make it to burst Ottawa's bubble...but 95% of me would still be happier if they were calling for tee times early Sunday morning

If the Leafs are booking tee-times Sunday, it will be as a result of Tampa finally winning a few rather than the Leafs collapsing!

Im with ya ANd-o, Since the habs spanked the leafs a couple weeks back, they've really turned it on. Sundin in paticular. I am rooting for them to get in, because i would LOVE to see another playoff choke by the sens, curtiosy of the leafs!...however after that...send the leafs shipping in 4 straight.

What? Johab! This is heresy! You'd go for the Laffs over the Sens? Who cares about the Senators? They've done nothing. The Leafs are the enemy, pure and simple! Hey Mario, you might want to run a security check on your moderator here.

The leafs have been winning lately but not convincingly..... they scored 9 straight power play goals in two games... even strength they have been badly outplayed and outscored. I would love to see them not lose a game to the end of the season and still not make it to the playoffs. In my opinion it would be poetic justice for the Laffs and the officiating...Can't wait to watch the Buffalo game on Sunday... should be a great one.

Why credit them, it's way too late, I love big Mats, but them playing great hockey now and then not making it will only hurt so much more........ They wouldn't go anywhere anyways if they slipped in to 8th, Montreal has a better lifespan in the playoffs than they do. (Who's going to carry the load J-S Aubin lmao)

Maybe the Leafs can buy the Kahuna's card board cut out?  I think a card board Theo is better than Aubin and Telquist (or however you spell it)

YOu guys tend to overlook the goalies they've played aginst. For the last four or five games they have played back up goalies. You think Mats could have had four if Luongo was in net? Maybe one, he's a good player but this new tear is partailly the "Non playoff team rest our goalie" deal. Funny though it happens with NYI and FLO.

Plouf, considering i live an hour outside of each ottawa and montreal, the an base is large for both of those two teams. There is still a number of leaf fans, but not even half as many sens or habs fans. So the rivalry between the habs and sens are pretty big here. And i enjoy seeing the sens choke....who doesnt. I like some of their players, but i HATE Alfredsson more than i hate sundin, so i enjoy watching him lose more...

Like I mentioned before, Sundin tends to get stronger as the season drags on. The guy is worth his weight and gold.

Well, Carolina won in a shootout.  Carolina and Ottawa now each have 111 points with two games to play, so it's still a toss-up who the Habs will play.  (When they clinch, that is. )

Leafs are done like dinner and have been for awhile. Alot easier to play when there's no pressure on....

Some of Sundin's good fortune should go to Daniel Alfredsson during the Olympics he gave Sundin one of his sticks to try out and since then his shot has improved abit notice a few shots he has blown by some of the goalies using DA's pattern and a different stick manufacturer if you notice some of Sundin's sticks have the manufacturer's name blocked out - since he normally used and endorsed a different brand.......

You have it backwards....there has been tons of pressure to win since they lost to us and Sundin has stepped up when it counted....no way would he give up...he has been fighting hard and carrying his team on his back.

No sir, everyone counted them out after we beat 'em. They are now on the outside where no one expects 'em to make it for awhile now. Too little, too late.

No sir, all the Laffs faithful expected them to make the playoffs and fight for every point until they are officially out and that's what they've been doing with Sundin leading the charge. The point is, he never gave up. Them now missing the playoffs doesn't make him any less of a professional and leader for that club.

I hear you AB. No doubt he's a great captain, I've said that before, when the Leafs fans wanted him gone... I would bring him here as second line center in a heart beat.

The only thing is he's been contaminated with the Blue and White, don't know if he can lose that smell.

barry33 would love to see Big Matts in a habs uniform next year..can you imagine? Matts and Koivu as a one two center punch!?? WOW!!! I mean, who cares who would be number one or number 2? Koivu and Sundin could be pretty much interchangeable..dare to dream barry..dare to dream!
