I have not rambled much on here except the odd reply to a post..so bare with me here. Some random observations:

  1. I totally disagree with Gainey playing Abby over Huet. Huet got us this far. What message is he sending Huet by sitting him? As far as rest goes, playoffs are every second night and very intense...ar eyou going to rest Huet then?!?? Huet is hot and needs to play. More importantly, he needs to know that the coaching staff and players have confidence in him. I am afraid that sitting him every second game does nothin g but mess with his head. I really do not see where BG is coming from here. If I am the coach (even at Bantam level) I play Huet every game down the stretch.

  2. We will play either Carolina or Ottawa. I predict a 4-1 series loss to either team. Yes we have had luck against Ottawa but with a depleted lineup. They now have all the horses back and there is no way the Habs can control the first line of Heatly, Spezza and Alfreddson. Who are you going to play against them? Koivu will be eaten alive and Bonk is too slow.

  3. Gainey having NOT signed a big center or  dman at the deadline will haunt us this playoff season. He stood pat and decided to play the cards he had. That will be the huge difference when we play elite teams like Carolina or Ottawa I am afraid. Both those teams have way too much depth compared to the habs. Perhaps Gainey was just happy to make the playoffs and that is why he did not make a move. But if he feels that we are ready to compete with the big boys with the lineup we have, he is sadly mistaken

  4. Having said all of this, I still feel that the future looks bright IF guys like Pleks, Perez, and Latendresse come into form. I am not sure what Latendresse' playoffs are like in JR, but if he gets beat out I would look to BG to insert him in the lineup.

1- My impression of Huet is that he is so strong mentally, that alternating goalies from game to game does not bother him.

2- If Begin is not back, the Habs will be in big trouble, against either the Sens or Carolina

3- I have to agree that we don't have the depth and experience to match up against them.

4- Latendresse's Voltigeurs were elimimated over a week ago, so if BG was going to insert him into the line-up, he could have done so for the past week.

Latendresse missed the last three games of the series with some sort of injury, don't know how long he was supposed to be injured for.  If the Habs clinch Saturday, would like to see Chipchura play Tuesday.

I too believe we can beat either CAr. or Ott. There good teams but not unbeatable. They lost against the Panthers, and we've beat them with and without their horses. As for Carolina, they never played against Huet in nets. So I think the outcome in both situations is unpredictable.

GO HABS GO

My thoughts - same as every year since about 1960 - Habs WILL win the Cup!

Cleghorn, you've probably got a pretty good winning percentage there. My guess, something like 25%!

I was shocked to see Abby in the net last night but one cannot argue with the outcome.... I think how far the Habs go in the playoffs will depend on which team shows... 'the fast crisp passing team' or 'the stand around watch the other team make the pretty plays team'. I cannot remember watching any team being at the opposite ends of the spectrum from night to night as this team has been this year. Maybe Gainey now has them playing for the 8th spot to give them a glimmer of hope to get past the first round, there has to be some logical explanation.

Given the year we have had, I will say we are very fortunate to be one point away from clinching a playoff spot, for this I am very grateful to Gainey and the team. I am confident we will continue to improve from here.

He had decent number in Drummondville - 51GP, 43G 40A 83Pts. 105PM

I believe he's injured at the moment, but what's wrong with those numbers?  He made the Canadian junior team too (although he didn't play much).

 Same here John.

PS. Have you ever made a prediction?

Yes, I predicted the Habs would win 5 straight way back when. They won four and lost one in OT. Not bad if I do say so myself. I could pull up the thread if you like.

I've predicted many things that have come correct, i.e. Sak signing a long term deal, etc... unlike some of my fellow posters who predict with the wrong outcome 90% of the time, I don't like to name names...

Actually you don't have to bring it up...I remember the five win prediction.

Simple math..the less predicitons you make ..the higher your percentage will be.

AB is actually doing pretty good. The one I'm least proud of is Ribs beating Saks in the scoring race the last season...that shouldn't happen. The one I'm most proud of is predicting back in late October that Huet would be our #1 by season's end...I took lots of flack for that one.

I do have to admit that I remember that one, the Huet one that is.
