NHL.com doesn't have a picture of him in Nashville's uniform?

You'd think that after 76 games they'd have one. And you can only miss Y.P. if you can think of someone who he could replace easily.

Funny how the day after Theo was traded, tsn had already photo edited Theo's picture to have him wearing an Avs jersey. Even Theo thought that was funny.

I miss Perreault... But he wanted to much money..... Anyone think that Yanic would be a better 2nd line center than Ribs ???? Hmm hard question.

I'd take Ribs over Yanic for sure.

Anyone watch the highlights on The Score and the analysis by Pierre Lebrun.  He even found a play where the Sens came in 3 on 2 and Ribs backchecked hard and stole the puck from the Sens player.  Really nice to see his game blossom in the last month to a more complete player.  Yanic had no idea where his end of the ice even was, and he can not give you the scoring that Ribs provides.

Also showed Begin block 3 shots on a sens PP with no stick for the last two blocks as he had given his stick to Souray who had broken his.  Go Begin.

I really like the effort from this team lately.  Everyone is working so hard and it is showing in the record.  8 in a row is no fluke.

Im sorry Habs and AVS fan, but your arguement for too much money is waaaay off. Perreault is currently only making 525 000 a season! Less than Begin! Hes also only played 66 games but has 55 points. Quite the steal considering our 4.5 million kovalev has only scored 59 points in 63 games.....be sure you know the facts before you state them...The reason Perreault is out of montreal is not the money, he was a defensive liability and we had no room for him in what we wanted to be a much younger team. And i wouldnt take him back, even for that price.

I wouldn't take him back, but last summer when they were choosing between Ribs and Perreault, I was really hoping they would keep Perreault. They are similar players, but at least Perreault can win face-offs and brings some maturity.

I think it's a toss up. But Ribby has more potential upside so it was the right choice. I liked his pass to Bulis for the goal last night....why can't he and kovalev find that connection???

Not sure I'd agree with you on that one, Habtastic.  Perreault is bigger, stronger, and a better skater  - and faceoff man, of course.  He also plays a more physical game (a tiddlywinks player would).

I liked YP, but don't really miss him terribly.  He had a habit of ill-timed penalties.

I guess I consider them both to be small, soft and slow with bad D skills, but excellent hands and vision. They are both centers who are often used on the 2nd line, but are probably no better than a 3rd-liner because of their drawbacks. The one thing Perreault is clearly better at is face-offs and he is older, which I thought would have been useful on a young team. No way would I take him back, but if I had to choose I would go with Perrault over Ribs every time.

I believe the thinking at the time when they didn't re-sign him was that Bonk was going to fill Perreault's shoes.

Hey at least the guy can win a draw on a consistent basis..and I can tell you that woul dcome in handy come playoff time...not to be nitpicky during a winning streak but that is an area where our centers have not been good..although Bonkster seems to be coming around

This is the second time I'm busting you on this one Barry:

ACTUAL faceoff stats in the game:

Ribeiro 58%
Koivu 52%
Bonk 44%
Plekanec 30%

Just one game? Not a fair sample? Ok...the Ottawa game then.

Koivu 57%
Ribeiro 38%
Bonk 33%
Plekanec 33%

Ok ok....how 'bout the game before that then?

Koivu 63%
Bonk 56%
Ribeiro 44%
Plekanec 30%

These stats bear a striking similarity to the stats we saw the last time you suggested that Bonk was notable for his good faceoff work.

Koivu has been the best faceoff man all season, and probably the only guy who's got a percentage over 50%. (Doesn't mean we wouldn't like a faceoff specialist, but there is one guy on the team at least who's pretty good at it)

Wow, I can't resist this follow-up:

We do not have a guy in the top-30 in any of the major stats:

Goals, Assists, Points, +/-

But we do have some top 30 guys in:

faceoff% (Koivu), time-on-ice (Markov), power-play goals (Ryder), short-handed goals (Higgins), game-winning goals (Ryder), and overtime goals (Koivu, who's 2nd, and Ryder)

One thing I have been watching lately is the way that when the Habs lose a draw in the offensive zone, they are recoverring and quite often gain possession.  I first started to take notice when (God help me) TSN pointed it out in a recent game.  While it seems that they are consistently losing face-offs, they are getting the puck afterwords.  Is it good coaching (ie - positioning) or just an extra bit of hustle in the guys?  I don't know, I'll let the experts figure that one out.
