New York Rangers all the way. They are primed for a playoff letdown.

That's funny that was going to be my Poll Question.

I say NY Rangers.  Why?   I have a vested interest.   You see if we play NYR, I get media credentials for the series played at the Bell Centre.

I really do not want to face Jagr (or Lundqvist) in the playoffs.  Also, i think carolina would kick the **** out of the Habs like they have all season...  If i had a choice, i'd pick Ottawa, the chokesters.

Just an aside .... back on March 16, the Canadiens lost 5-1 to Carolina at the Bell Centre.

I was at the game - with media credentials.  After the game, we were waiting in the press conference room waiting for Bob Gainey to address the media.  Anyway, members of the media (a reporter with RDS actually) went out of his way to express that the Canadiens would get swept in 4 games, and that he would plan his golfing vacation in the Carolina's around the time the Canadiens get swept.

I just thought it was completely unprofessional of him to say that there.

I agree.  What kind of reaction did that guy hope to elicit with that thoughtless remark?  Did he think it was funny?

Was it any one of the TV guys we know?

The choices are either NYR, Philly, Carolina or Ottawa.  The latter will be 1-2.  Montreal has shown they can handle Ottawa.  But, facing either in the first round would mean we entre the postseason on a fizzle.  You want to go in with a bang.  And, if we do, we get NYR or Philly.  I'd rather take NYR since we've handled them all year.  Philly would be better harder than NYR.  Carolina must be eliminated for Montreal to win the cup.  It isn't inconceivable to think that Montreal could make the 3rd or 4th rounds but need the right matchups AND momentum AND teamwork AND great goaltending AND etc.

The Matchup I'd REALLY like to see is Sabres and Canadiens. I think that would be a really good series. Especially with the Habs heating up and the Sabres cooling down, but we'd have to pass Philly. It's possible, just not probable.

For starters, what happens in the regular season doesn't mean jacksh*t in the play-offs.  All you need is a hot goalie and you can go as far as he can take you  (i.e. Calgary, Anaheim, Buffalo, etc.).  As long as Huet plays out of his skull and the team plays sound defense and bags the odd goal, they can beat anyone. However, I do understand that Montreal matches up better against certain teams that others and it is clear that Philly and/or NYR are definitely not as strong as Ottawa or Carolina.

when you got a hot goalie and your defense don't give the puck up, plays great, then it doesn't matter who we play! remember , a hot goalie, good defense can carry a team to the cup!
