The following is what is expected of all members who post on this board.

Remember, this is a message board.  People will not hear or see how you are giving your message and it is easy to misunderstand someone's true feelings or thoughts during the reading of another post.  Please pay careful attention to how you use your words.  This is not a face-to-face discussion.

Also, from time to time, people will post out of anger and the message will be there for everyone to see.  Be sure you know what you are typing and will not regret anything later on after you have posted.  This is not meant to discourage passion or love of the game but to offer a friendly reminder of the long-term existence and effects of what you post.

You will almost certainly find yourself disagreeing with another post or thread.  Please remember to argue with the comment and not take personal attacks against the poster.  If you disagree with an opinion, saying "I disagree" isn't always enough, you should back up your opinion.  This is not kindergarden.  We shouldn't have to hand out time-outs here.  Take responsibility and understand these are other peoples opinions and not everyone will agree with them.  Same for your own.  If you would like to be treated with the same respect, treat others with that same manner and it will be remembered and shared by others. 

By using the Gohabs.com Message Board you agree NOT to post any of the following

1 - Any communication that is intended to harass, belittle, humiliate, threaten or cause embarrassment to a fellow member.  This includes any material which defames, abuses or threatens others.

2 - Personal attacks against users of this board, including Gohabs.com board members, administrators, NHL coaches, players or prospects.

3 - Material that contains vulgar, obscene or indecent language or images.

4 - Material with the intent to elicit negative responses (flaming)

5 - Statements that are bigoted, hateful or racially offensive (post will be deleted and poster suspended.)

6 - Any communication that contains spam (multiple copies in one area or the same communication in multiple areas.)

7 - Material advocating illegal activity or discussion of illegal activities with intent to commit (these will be reported to appropriate law enforcement officials.)

8 - All copyrighted material must be accompanied by appropriate acknowledgement of original author.  (Ie - weblink address is sufficient to original source.)  As a best practice, do not simply copy and paste other author's articles.  Highlight your major point and provide a link to full version.

9 - Unauthorized personal information (name, address, phone number, e-mail, etc.) of other posters, players, fans or administrators of the Montreal Canadiens.  That is, please respect everyones privacy.

10 - Advertising or any form of commercial solicitation without the express consent of the Administrator.  One time sales (ie tickets, memorabilia) must be cleared with a moderator prior to posting (poster must have 25 posts or more.)

11 - Material that impedes or otherwise prohibits communication; disrupts the discussion including, without limitation, using fan names in topical boards that are offensive to the topic, the team, the sport and/or its fans, and repeatedly posting off-topic messages in a topical message board.

You will also please abide to the following guideline

- You will not start a new topic if one like it already exists. This helps reduce the amount of "non-productive threads" and stops the board from filling up with too many topics stating the same opinion.

- Any complaints or suggestions are to be sent to the Administrator or Moderators of the board and not talked about publically on the board.  Such threads will not be answered and will be deleted.  Private messages are there to respect the personal space of members on the board, including the moderators.

- If you are a fan of a rival NHL team, you will not attempt to antagonize Canadiens Fans.  This is the Montreal Canadiens fansite and Canadiens fans have a right to a place where they can discuss the team amongst themselves in peace.  Biased viewpoints should be expected, so if you must respond, please do so in a respectful manner.

All these rules are necessary and are in place to prevent significant problems with the board.

Statements or postings which violate the above terms will be deleted upon discovery. Users who violate the Code of Conduct may receive a warning.  Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, a user may lose his account temporarily or permanently.  Account suspensions will be made at the sole discretion of the site administrators or moderators.

Users may not have more than one account.  Posters posing as another board member will be banned.

Any user posting on the Gohabs.com message boards implicitly agrees to these rules regardless of whether they have been read or not.
