Huet & Markov would be my choices too, but Huet will have to continue his play and get the team i to the playoffs to win it IMHO...I'd put Kovy in third just for the Tucker hit

Markov at this point, If Huet continues his play it will be tough to pick between the two.

Offence gets the glory, defense wins the games. But what trumps offence in the glory category?

Goaltending.

It's so much easier for a goaltender to get accolades because what he does is more individualistic than anoy other player on the ice. It's easier for a goalies accomplishments to be seen that any other players, ESPECIALLY a defenseman.

However, one simple fact points to Markov being the MVP. Look at the Habs record when Markov is NOT in the lineup.

Yes, he is that good.

It's tough to see a d-mans contributions on the ice. Heck, it wasn't until Souray started scoring goals from the point before the Montreal media proclaimed "BEST D-MAN EVAR!!!111". So even though Markov is never going to get Kovalev-type numbers and even though he'll never be credited with "stealing one for the Habs" like Huet has, he's still Montreal's Most Valuable Player because when he's in the lineup, we're a completely different team.

He has been my fav Hab for quite a few seasons, so I have to go with Markov. I am also ecstatic that they finally paired my second fav Hab with him. They compliment each other so well, so it is about time!

I would be fine with either one of those two, however I will give the nod to Huet. Let's face it, the big difference between the Habs team that lost a ton of games earlier and the team that is on a roll right now is goaltending. As good as Markov has been, there is no way we would have turned the season around without Huet. By the way, for what it matters, I posed this question to CJ and he gives Huet the nod.

Any idea what our record without Kovy is?  I think it is very similar, remember when he went out for knee surgery we went on that terrible streak.

Huet -- whether they make the playoffs or not. (Though we all know they WILL!) With or without Markov, with or without Kovalev, nobody did more for 60 minutes a night to give the team a chance to win than Huet. And unlike Markov and Kovy, he hasn't been out injured, which in my mind is part of being valuable. You can't contribute if you're not on the ice. Finally, look at his shutouts. Not just good performances, but superior ones -- perfect ones. No doubt in my mind, Huet gets the MVP.

I agree 100% it should be Huet.
